So bees, this is a three part question:
First, how much are you paying for your wedding day photographer and what are you getting with this? We're paying almost $1300 for unlimited time, shots, two professional photogs, and the jpg's of our images.
Second, how much are you paying for your engagement photos?
Third, how much are your photographers charging for albums and prints? Are you planning on doing it through them or through a company like mpix.com?
Thanks!
We are paying $4000 which includes 7 hours of coverage (although we might add an hour for $300), a CD of hi res images, a 50 page album and engagement shoot.
Ours is $2650, including his travel expenses (he lives about 3 hours away), 8 hours of shooting time, and a disc with the hi-res images. We can pay more to purchase an album or prints, but all of that is optional and can be added on after we see the photos.
We paid $300 for engagement photos (we drove to his city for those) and got a disc with around 150 hi-res images from that.
Ours was $5500. That included 9 hours day of, 4 hours for the rehearsal dinner (we threw one hell of a party for the rehearsal dinner) and 2.5 hours (I think, can't remember exactly) for the engagement shots. That also included flying her out to San Diego and putting her up for the weekend of our wedding. We got DVDs with fully edited files, around 900 pictures total between the 3 sessions.
I make my own album with Photobook America and got my prints through Adorama.com (though mpix.com is also awesome!)
Ours is $1800...it includes 9 hours, a monogrammed book with around 200 shots, a printable high resolution cd with all of our images, 25% off all prints which start at $4 for a 4x6, and an engagement session with all images on a high resolution cd and a coffee table book with 20 images. I have no idea what we will use for prints yet...but I'm really glad we can print them on our own.
mine was $1500 for up to 8 hours of coverage. however she stayed for like 9 hours and she normally charges $2500, but gave me a deal because she was already booked to be in Jamaica for another wedding! She also had her "assistnat' husband with her to help her out a bit, he was not a second shooter though.
we also got all the images on DVD with full printing rights. if i decide to get an album, it will consist of 70 - 80 pics for $500.
I forgot to mention, we had two sets of engagement photo shoots, both were free. However, one of the photogs said that his albums start at $2000 for 10 photos or so. I was like HOLY HELL!!! Anyone else run into this? I was like...it better be printed on gold leaf paper!
Make sure the JPGS they are giving you are HI RES, not LO RES. Photogs have been known to slip that in and them charge outrageous sums for the albums. A $2000 album with 10 pics sounds awfully suspicious, and a lot like those scams...
$1,000 for 2 photographers for 4 hours wedding day coverage, 1.5 hr engagement shoot, cd of hi res images with rights, $100 print credit.
They use zenfolio for their ordering/prints and I just got some of our engagement prints back today and they are awesome. I will likely make my own photo book after the wedding once I have the CD with rights using adorama.
Ours is $1100, we get 6 hours of day of coverage, the rehersal and rehersal dinner, our engagment shoot, 2 photographers, printable DVD of the wedding, an image box with 18 - 5x7 matted prints and an 11x14 custom print, and the dvd of our e-pics. :D We got an AMAZING deal. But we personally know the photographer which helps.
We actually know our photog from church. He was just getting into wedding photography and needed shots for his portfolio.
We paid him 500 for our engagement shoot & images, a ttd session that we'll be doing here soon, rehearsal, and wedding day which was about 8 hrs, got a 2nd shooter, and right under 400 high res images from the day.
I don't think we could've gotten off much better
I can't get over some of the prices! :O
Our biggest package (I'm a photographer) is $1600.. which includes engagement shoot, 6-8 hours of shooting, all rights to the pictures, CD with high res photos with minimun 200 pictures and a photobooth.
@Miss Marbles: Then you're either not charging enough or aren't as experienced/talented as the photographers these other brides hired. ;)
250$ for e-pics and wedding pics. 350$ for video. Both are family friends.
$950 for 6 hours of wedding coverage, an engagement shoot, an edited CD of around 350 pics, a second shooter and a handful of prints.
Ours was $3000. We had an engagement shoot, e-pic edited DVD, 9 hours on wedding day, two photographers, fully edited DVD (about 2000 pics), a proof book, 4 pocket albums, and free travel to our venue.
We're paying $2300. It includes: 2 photographers, 8 hours, high resolution DVD, free engagement or bridal session, and $300 print credit.
Ours was $2800 for unlimited coverage, high res cd of images, second shooter, and a coffee table album!
We're paying $15,000. This includes 10hrs of coverage, cd with images that are all edited and a coffee table photo album. Hope it's awesome!
750 for engagement shoot, unlimited day-of coverage, cd and hi-res thumbdrive with print release. And editing, of course.
Wow....didn't know they were so pricy! Ours is 800$ for 10 hours of coverage, high resolution CD including tax and travel expense. We live in a small town so prices are cheaper than normal.
I am paying $575, engagement shoot is additional $100. She will be there 8 hours, hi-res, all rights, and does amazing work. We negociated to our price cuz I am am on a budget.
I think the prices depend on the location too. I'm in Southern California.
$3300:
- engagement session
- 8 hours coverage
- 2nd shooter
- hi-res files of all photos
- 30 pg album
@CookieBee: I would like to see this photog's website. I need me a good wedding porn fix.
@BeeM Our wasn't b/c of lack of talent but I guess it would fall under "experience".. although he's been in photog a while he hadn't really gotten into weddings. Once he had our e*pics as part of his portfolio his prices tripled... and rightfully so considering I personally think he's more talented than the "popular" photog in our area.
It just worked out as great timing really! =)
@Miss Marbles I know some areas price differently also... and then again there are just some photog that price the way they do b/c well... they can... not b/c of talent but b/c people will pay it. *sigh*
hahah, it better be awesome for 15k! That's more than some people spend on their entire wedding :O
We didn't get e-pics, thought about it, wanted to do it, but we'll probably just do anniversary portraits instead. We're getting full day coverage, multiple locations, unlimited shooting. No albums/printing [that would be extra], but discs with the hi-res images & printing rights. Slight/moderate post-processing included. $500.00 + tax.
Friendors ftw! (comparable photographers in the area run 1000-3500$ for similar time/packages).
Let's see.. We are paying $2500 for 8 hrs of coverage with a hi-res disc and print rights. Epics are included in this rate because we booked so far in advance. I think they usually charge another $200 for epics. Albums start at $500 for their smallest book and go up from there.
I'd say we have middle of the road photogs. We came across ones who were much cheaper and ones who were much more expensive. We're happy with our choice. :)
I got the mid-sized package for $2400. It was originally $2700 but I didn't want engagement pics. We have 8 hours coverage, a disc of all the pics and print rights, and a leather photo album with 12 pictures of our choice.
$2400 For all day coverage of 2 photographers rights to all of my edited pictures, an engagement session, and a photo album. I can't tell you how much this money has been worth it! My photographer has hooked me up with a great DJ for 1/2 the price of anyone in my area and someone to do my STD's and Ivites for $150 for 100. Plus she is doing my hair and makeup that I know will look amazing because she did it for my boudior shoot. I need to get her a gift for being so amazing! If anyone is interested you can find her on facebook. Photography by Jennifer Lynn.
Ours is $3700 for the entire wedding day (morning until night) with 2 photogs, unlimited locations, unlimited shots. Includes a CD will all our images, an enlargement and an album.
Engagement photos are $350 and include all images on a CD as well as a 16x20 enlargement.
$800 for travel (she lives 2 hours from our venue), 7 hours of shooting time, free engagement photos, a CD of high-res images with our choice of 15 photos per hour that she shot (for a total of 105 shots, with flexibility in that number) including editing.
@missmouse29: ha right? I could have bought a pretty nice house with what we're spending on this wedding.. whatever I'm only doing this once right? (hopefully haha!)
1900--includes E-Pics and Wedding. We had to pay for our actual photos (e pics only) but we will get wedding pictures as part of the package. I could have paid extra for her to make the album, but we are doing it ourselves.
Im in NYC so prices here are steep.
We paid $2,300. For 4 hours. My Wedding was small and intimate.
We get a CD with all the pics and the rights. And there will be a slide show on the Photogs website for 6 months with user password.
I know its expensive but this Photographer has such an amazing eye, I really love her work.
