the “deals” you get with room blocks aren’t always very good. they’re holding rooms for you and declining other reservations for those rooms until about a month before, so they know they could lose money if your block isn’t filled. to make it less likely they lose money, they charge more for the rooms in your block than the do for rooms online.

I agree with kitzy, the deals might not be so great. We’re putting the block information on our website, but also recommending that our guests check out websites like expedia and such, since I think you can score our rooms for about $30-40 under the ‘block price.’

The town in which we’re getting married turns into a resort town during the summer and there’s only 1 hotel, all other’s are B&B’s.  Almost immediately (1 year out) we researved a room block for 20 rooms and didn’t get a discount from the normal summer rate. 🙁  Unfortunate, but we were able to negotiate for a discount for the  guests staying a 3rd night.
