I have booked by venue, DJ, and photographer. I have asked my bridesmaids already. I also bought my dress. My colors are picked but no real theme. I plan on looking into a florist soon and favors. I want all the big things taken care of early.

I have my photographer and we have our venue. The venue covers a lot of things like catering, the cake, and the centerpiece flowers, so we dont have to worry about much.

Ive got my bridal party and Fi already has his men.

We’ve had the date set for a few months but I’m just getting around to actually start planning (:

We just got engaged 4 days ago, so I haven’t planned anything yet! All I know is my color will be purple!

My mom, on the other hand, has a million ideas already! And she bought us a lovely planning binder, that I will definitely make use of!

Any advice for someone just starting out? I know we April ’15 brides have plenty of time, but I’d like to start chipping away!

@Soon2BD-CBee:  I sort of envision several shades of purple! I’ll need to shop around a bit before I decide. FI has basically known from day 1 that it will be purple lol.

Your colors sound lovely!

My mom has earmarked some venue options that meet my criteria (she found some that offer indoor and outdoor settings, as well as tent setups, and possible outside catering).

She’s also thought of some photographers. She used to photograph weddings, so the one thing that she asked to have approval over is the photographer, and I’m fine with that. She’s actually going to do our engagement photos.

I saw her on Saturday and she was asking me all these questions, like “have you thought about this, or this or this?” I’m like I’ve been engaged fo 2 days!!! eek!

She did keep telling me that it’s all up to me, though, whenever I would ask her about what she expected, which I thought was really nice!

My first reacion was YAY I GET TO PLAN A WEDDING!! And now I’m like….uhhh I have to plan a wedding…. lol

@Soon2BD-CBee:  well, roses bloom in the spring, so red rose is perfect for the spring! lol  honestly though, I’m not one to worry about matching the colors to the season (although it can be quite lovely). If your dream color is bright orange and you want to get married in January and have bright orange as your color–go for it!

I think our first hurdle is figuring out approximate guest list numbers, because we both have large families. Once we do that we can determine budget and venue.

@Soon2BD-CBee:  wow! I don’t think it would be possible for our list to be that small! My mom is one of 11, dad is one of 6, his dad is one of 3 and his mom is one of 7…There are a few individual aunts/uncles I’m cutting from my family list (due to craziness/lack of contact), but most of them I see multiple times a year. It’s crazy!

@Soon2BD-CBee:  Thanks. I wouldn’t say that I’m organized lol. I booked everything early to ensure I got the vendors I want. In New York popular vendors books up fast. Several of my vendors service the tri-state area, which means I was competing against a lot of brides. I also wanted to book early to look in prices at a cheaper rate. I hope to have all my vendors paid off then I will only have to deal with the remaining balance of my venue, which is the most costly thing.

@pineapplez17:  My mom did my engagement photos as well. We used one of her pictures as out STD. When I booked my photographer he also is going to do engagement photos for us. I will just have 2 sets. Most photographers (at least the ones I met with) throw in an engagement photo shoot. It helps you to become comfortable with them.
