Just wondering how much everyone's caterings bill is going to be? How many people are you having? Sit down or buffet? Open bar?  I'm sure it depends on where you live too, but it can't hurt to know what other people are paying since it's anonymous!

$13,000 for 100 people...included a seated dinner, 5 hour open bar, hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour and the wedding cake.  We had our wedding on a Friday, so the prices were discounted.  If we had done a Saturday, it would have been about $16,000 for all the above.

Ours will be $22 per person + tax and gratuity, about $4500 including linens, cake service and punch fountain for 160 guests (Hilton Emerald Ballroom). This is for extensive Middle Eastern and American Buffet and includes beverages.

$6,400 for 80 people in Philly. Includes all food (passed and stationery hors d'oeuvres, full dinner) except for dessert. Includes tables, chairs, linens, flatware, sliverware, glasses, etc. Doesn't include any alcohol (we have to supply our own), but it includes mixers, coffee, tea, and other non-alcoholic beverages.

In Charleston, SC, our projected bill is around $9,000, which is a cocktail hour, sit down 3 course lunch, wine bar, dessert display.  that does include the rental fees from the venue though, we're having our ceremony there as well.

About $2,000 for the food and linens for a buffet dinner for 120 with 2 main entree options (BBQ chicken and BBQ vegetarian ribs) here in Milwaukee.

My ILs are paying for a seperate bar service which is going to be about $700 for 5.5 hours of a full open bar with a bartender (we bring the alcohol, no corkage fees).

    Soo...About $27 a person, give or take.

about 8,000 for 160 people, including a sit down dinner, open premium liquor bar, and all taxes and tips. (serving petit filet mignon with jumbo grilled shrimp or stuffed chicken breast ) I think this was about 48$ a person or so. I am in the Chicago area too, if that helps.

£50 per person.....22 people.......thats £1,200   ,  thats not including drinks or the canape's that we will be having straight after the ceremony,   just the sit down meal with wine on the table and sparkling wine for a toast.

so approx  £2,000  in total.  $3,000+   for 22 people.

For about 80 people, right at $2000 which includes a three meat, ten side Southern buffet, a salad bar, biscuits and hoecakes, two desserts, and water and tea. This is at Paula Deen's restaurant The Lady and Sons, so it's not technically "catering" but that is what the food portion of our reception will cost.

Plus tax and tip, we ended up with about $9,100 for 106 people (plus band and photographers). This includes ALL rentals, alcohol, hors d'ouevres, and cake/cupcakes. In DC. (We did barbecue and all our caterers were awesome)

    confettiegg2000    June 16, 2012   San Marcos/Austin, Texas - wedding in Blanco

150 guests with a 3-station buffet of heavy apps ("dinner"), plus a light cocktail hour of fruits and cheeses comes out to $25.85/head, or $3877 total. Bartenders for a 4-hour full bar and our outside alcohol comes out to $2280. Cake (separate vendor) is $625 plus $85 for cake cutting. Rentals (through our caterer) for everything - chairs, tables, glasses, silverware, linens, plates, etc - comes to $3827. I had no idea about any of these costs before I started wedding planning, so I hope this helps somebody out there estimate costs.

$89 per person - wedding buffet and open bar for 5 hours.

Buffet includes a TON of food.  So much better than their sit down package.

Don't have an exact guest list count yet since the date is 16 months away, but I'm expecting approximately $11K for 120 people.  This includes dessert/cake too.

    Roughly $5,000 includes the following…

Cocktail Hour: International cheese and bread display, crudités and dip display, passed beef hibachi skewers & passed mushroom risotto in wonton spoons.

Formal sit down dinner: Choice of NY sirloin steak or chicken cordon bleu. Served with a house salad, garlic whipped mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and butter.

Limited Open Bar: 5 hours of beer, wine & soda with a champagne toast. Coffee, tea and ice water provided for free.

All taxes, fees and gratuity included.

We’re getting married at a hotel so this price also includes all tables, chairs, linens, place settings, centerpieces (if we wanted to use some of theirs, which we don’t) & 2 nights of accommodations in their “grand hotel”.

When we met with our venue I told them that we didn’t want to spend more than $65 per person. This averages out to $66.67 per person for 75 guests which is pretty damn close if you ask me. Honestly though, we’re secretly hoping that 65-70 actually show.

Depends on what people order! Everyone will have an option of having filet mignon, chicken milanese, or Maryland crab cakes, with 'heavenly' potatoes, and a vegetable. FI and I did the math: for 300 people, if everyone orders chicken it would cost roughly $10,000. If everyone orders filet it will cost $15,000. So in between that range!

Our venue allows us to bring our own alcohol. We are spending $3000 on booze...beer, liquor, and wine. Gratuity and tax is included. So I guess worst case scenario: $18,000 for 300 people

@KateByDesign: I'm from right outside of NYC and it shocked me that vendors in Virginia seem to think they are in Manhattan at times.  :)

One of the venues we were looking at down here in Cville shared a real bill from a 150 person wedding. Not including the cake, the bill for the venue, barware, chairs, food, and beverage was $22K.  I kept the PDF and share it with anyone who tells me they are considering the place.  It's gorgeous, but a budget buster for most.

Our venue fee is $5,400 (discounted for Friday) and includes tables, chairs, linens, barware, and staffing.  Our food will probably be around $6,000.  One planner with whom I spoke said to plan on $3,000 for the bar.  So, that's $14,400 for the reception.  Ugh.  That's the first time I added that all up.  Thankfully, we paid the venue fee already, so we're tucking $10K away to cover food/beverage.

$16,000 for 150 people. 5 hour reception including open bar, 24 passed things, 10 different stations, 4 different pastas/sauces, 10 choices of trayed food, a mashed potato bar (drool...), italian display, fruit display, veggies, breads, an appitizer, choice of 5 dinners, desert and wedding  cake. Plus they threw in the chair covers, a champaign tree and a chocolate fountian.

Wow, I didn't realize I was getting such a ridiculously good deal, but then, I do live in an area with a very low cost of living and my caterer is so great that I have no idea how she makes a living. I'm looking at about $2700 for ~80 people. That's food and service, including tax, including bartending (we'll handle bringing in the alcohol, I haven't fully priced that out yet), tables/linens/etc. are included in the venue price. This is a sort of Italianish dinner, appetizers, salad, then buffet dinner of chicken marsala and veggie lasagna with several sides. The caterer is also handling the cake for super cheap, $200.

Mine is $45 per person, for passed hor d'oeuvres, salad, bread, and a main entree. I got a Groupon deal for the linen and dishes rental (the tables glassware and chairs come with the venue) so combined it is about $5000 for 100 guests including both tax and gratuity!

This was a great deal as every other quote I received was at least $11,000!

That said, if anyone needs a great caterer for an affordable price in the Bay area PM me and I'll send the info!

Ours will be around $3,200 (including tax and service charges) for 32 guests. I am too lazy to back it all out for the exact amount. This will include drinks/snacks as we are getting ready (wedding is at the same location), cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeurves and appetizers set out, full dinner buffet, a cake "bar" with an assortment of cakes and chocolate covered strawberries, premium open bar, and finger sandwiches about an hour before the bar closes. This also includes, set up, break down, all linens, and some candles to add to our centerpieces.

Our guests will be well fed in order to meet our food and beverage minimum. Getting hungry thinking about it!

$100 per person for 3 passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour and a 4 course plated dinner, which includes a dessert course since we aren't fans of wedding cake. All ingredients are organic and locally sourced (within 100 miles of our venue). Our venue doesn't offer an open bar, so we are paying on consumption. We're estimating somewhere in the $2000-2500 range for 40 people for alcohol. This was the most expensive of the 3 places we met with, but it was the only one who would meet our organic and local requests.

$99pp at our favourite restaurant - incl shared tasting plate between 4 people, 3 choices main, 3 choices dessert, 5 hour premium package, all linen, table set up and they are allowing us to bring in mead (traditional wedding beverage) and other beer choices (FI is a brewer, beer is HUGE for him and he wont accept normal tap beer). We are currently estimating 60 people so we are just under $6000. As its a restaurant I dont need to hire anything which is saving me a good deal of money!

I am getting married in NJ right outside of NYC, and the caterer we are using has excellent food and presentation so they are quite a bit more expensive than a lot of caterers available in the area. We are having 130 ppl and the total for food without the bar or rentals is $150 per person.  But we have found caterers as cheap as $75 per person without liquor or rentals but decided not to go with them after the tasting.

Make sure you do a tasting before you sign!  We were about to sign with a larger well-known caterer that was $95 per person and we did the tasting and we were biting into things were partially frozen!  A lot of the lower priced caterers feature a lot of fried food or microwaved frozen food because it is easier to make and less expensive for them.  A smaller catering company or a caterer further away from a city will be less expensive, but the ones we met with were not as comfortable working off-site.

If you want to save money and have great food try a local restaurant or a buffet over sit down.  If you and your guests like to try different foods or if it is a more casual wedding or outdoor affair an indian buffet or a local latin restaurant would be absolutely delicious and would save you a lot of money.
