Is the place in Minneapolis?  If so, I think that sounds about right.  Ours will be just over 1k to feed about 35 people.  Haven’t tabulated the wine cost yet because I”m not sure we’ll bother doing a pour with dinner or not.  That’s not including any apps or any dessert.

If a bottle of wine serves 4-5 glasses, 12 bottles will be maybe 60 glasses total right? – so like two for each adult.. that sounds pretty normal to me.  I know our crowd would drink a lot more than that.

Keep shopping around and maybe you’ll find something that fits you better?

Wow – I’m not going to be much help here, because we are going to do a cookout at our house.  Grill hamburgers, hot dogs, bud light etc.  So ours will be very cheap!!  Our families don’t know each other well, and none of his groomsmen know my BMs, so I just figured a cookout/barbecue type atmosphere would be more laid back and easier for people to get to know each other.

If that’s the best they can do on price, I would have to suggest moving it to another place.  Unless you have your heart set on it, then I’m not sure!!

What place is that? My FI and I are getting married in St Paul and haven’t booked our rehearsal dinner place yet. We are trying to get some ideas. We love tapas but they can be quite spendy but 2000 doesn’t seem like it’s too expensive. But I don’t know. I haven’t really started looking yet for rehearsal dinners.

Yeah that does seem a bit much for Rochester. And six or seven bottles should be enough for only one glass per person. I hope you find something with a better deal!

yeah, whoa, Rochester?  That seems like a lot in that case.  I would also think it’d be a lot cheaper than Minneapolis.

Go with the 6 or 7 bottles – could you do all tapas?  And just like, a TON of them and cut the main entree?  I wonder if that would save money.  We went to a RD awhile back that did essentially that, and it was pretty great.

I am definitely not much help… We had a very casual rehearsal dinner. Caesar’s Pizza & Breadsticks, Beer and Soda. Probably spent 50 bucks for nearly 20 people but that’s because the beer is always on tap at my parent’s.

I looked into doing it at restuarants and there were about $1500 ish.  That wasn’t for any wine though, in fact it wasn’t including beverages at all.  We just knew we didn’t want alcohol since there will be plenty the next evening!

In the end we also decided to do a catered/BBQ event at my parents house.  Is that an option for you?  It really makes it much easier to afford!

We had a BBQ at a park close to my home where I spent a lot of time growing up. Similar to honeybun, our families and wedding party didn’t know each other well, so it was an opportunity to socialize comfortably. Our flowergirl even got a game of freeze tag started with the wedding party that had eevryone laughing. It was a great time, with an awesome view of the sea, and cost less than $200.

Ours was about $800 for 32 people. We let people get their own drinks since we had an open bar at the wedding

full course italian meal with 2 appetizers and 2 entree choices
