I was just wondering how much makeup you ladies wear on a normal day to work/school or whatever.
For the past 3 years I’ve been working a job out of the public eye with no coworkers really, and haven’t had a need to dress professionally at all. My usual work look is a sweat suit with no makeup, but soon I’ll be transitioning into a more professional work atmosphere and I was wondering how much makeup you ladies wear in those types of situations??
I usually just put on some tinted moisturizer, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss when I’m going out to dinner with Darling Husband or something where I need to look a little more pulled together and I’m not sure that’s going to be enough for work.

I usually wear eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara. If I really need to dress up I’ll wear tinted lip gloss.

@hopefullbeee: Samesies, in a lot of ways. I work in a very small office and we never have clients in our facility. So I wear jeans and hoodies and no makeup and ponytails. When I travel to see clients or attend conferences, which is about six times a year, I wear a full face of makeup. I used to be a MUA and it’s kind of all or nothing for me!
I think what you’re suggesting sounds like it will be fine. As long as it’s not that look paired with wet hair, I think you’ll look very nice.
To be clear, a full face to me means:
Eye shadow primer

I wear liquid liner only on the top eyelid and mascara. If I’m feeling ambitious, I wear powder and a little blush…
If I go out at night, I like to wear foundation, and I put some pencil liner on my bottom lid…

I work in a small office. I always wear eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick/gloss. If I feel tired or pale I wear foundation, powder and blusher and some high beam highlighter.

I am the president of my company–even though it’s in a small town, I try to dress really well and fix up. I wear foundation, bronzer, blush, eye shadow, liner, mascara, a nude lip stain. It sounds like a lot, and it’s more than most people in this town wear, but I think if you take the extra time on yourself in the morning, people perceive you as the type who will take the extra time needed to accomplish your work tasks fully.

I wear a ton I guess, but its not so much that it is really heavy makup, I just wear a lot of steps. Remeber if you are wearing makeup right, it doesnt look heavy
usually 3-4 colors of shadow including a highlighter shade (a primer if I am going out so it will stay on better)

I use Bare Minerals for foundation with a little blush, mascara, and chapstick on a day-to-day basis.

@Wed2Attn: +1 Agree!
I am a business owner as well- sad to say, but people do take you more seriously if you take the time to look your best. As much as I hate admitting it- this world is corrupted by image. Regardless of what you look like, if you take time to pamper yourself/groom, people notice. Foundation is a great way to protect your skin as well! Most of them contain spf 15, and if you use a good primer/ foundation- it can prevent breakouts 😉

Hardly any, and I can’t imagine I will ever wear much. I don’t see the point. It’s not me. I never learned how to apply makeup anyway, so I would be at a total loss.
Day-to-day basis I usually just wear mascara.
Sometimes I’ll also put on some light foundation, powder, and bronzer. If I am dressing up, I’ll throw on some lipstick and a little eyeshadow too (not that I have a clue on how to apply eyeshadow… I look at pictures and wing it), but that is it. And it’s rare.

I normally don’t wear make up. I’m even terrible about remembering face lotion *gasp*.
But I will put make up on for special occassions or to perk myself up. But the worst part of wearing make up is having to take it off at night. I’m a lazy girl.

concealer (ugh undereye circles)
sounds like a lot but everything is natural colors etc so it really isn’t even that obvious.

@kinneybride: We are definitely on the same page! As the great Bobbi Brown says, “Everyone needs a little something!” And I completely agree with her. If I didn’t wear makeup or dress nicely or fix my hair, my business would have went under in a month. Nobody wants to do business with someone who can’t even take care of themself.
The world is very corrupted by beauty, but one person being a non-makeup wearer isn’t going to change that, so embrace the painted-on face!!

Here’s what I do on a normal day.
My face is all Bare Minerals.
- Eye cream
- Concealer for pimples when necessary, ya know
- Foundation – light layer (evens skin tone, etc.)
- Cover under eye circles
- Tiny bit of bronzer, but I’ve been skipping recently because I don’t feel like being bronzed
- Blush – mostly a bronze blush as my pinkish blushes I use when going out for a more rosy look
All of that takes literally 3 minutes. There is no heavy application, it’s all powder and I use different brushes for different steps and that’s it. I used to have no in between – it was either heavy face makeup or none. But now I found Bare Minerals and while I do use full face coverage, it’s so light, it’s not like having full face coverage. So I have even glowing skin, without having anything caked on. Perfect for the daytime. And if you want to amp it up a little you just put a heavier layer. Anyway, that was my Public Service Announcement for Bare Minerals.
Now for eyes, it just depends on whether or not I’m wearing my glasses. If I’m wearing glasses I either do nothing, or just put a bit of mascara. If I’m wearing contacts I usually just do some eyeliner and mascara. I put the eyeliner on specifically to make my eyes look wider and more awake, and sometimes I put a little bit of white powder in the corners to open up my eyes and make me look awake. How heavy I go on the eyeliner really just depends on what I’m wearing and what kind of look I want. I rarely do eyeshadow unless I have a fancy day, and I mostly stick to golds and browns for work.

On my day to day, going to work and around the house (if I feel like it) I’ll use a dab of lotion to help the powder stick. I will put on some powder, a bit of concealer if I have rings under my eyes or a pimple or two, and mascara. That’s it. I have natural pink lips, like super pink, so putting on even chapstick makes my lips look too red so I stay away from lipstick and chapstick gloss and all of that for the most part. Although if I’m going out of town for the night I might use a brownish lipstick, but that’s like twice a year.
I do wear mascara daily, but just a bit to bring my eye lash’s out since they get blended in with my powder when I apply the powder so a light coat of mascara works for that.
I hardly ever wear eye shadow as well. If I do it’s just a light smudge in the crease between my eye lid and upper eye skin (whatever that area is called) in the corner and that’s it and that’s when I’m going out like once every 6 months or so.
I used to wear lots of eye shadow, always wore bronzer and eye liner and also always wore lipstick until I looked back at pics and realized I was wearing too much makeup. So I stick to the all natural look. And I pretty much look the same minus a pimple every now and then and the shine on my face.
