We had a full open bar for the night with all the spirits, wine, and four types of beer, plus a champagne toast.  Our reception was 4 hours, and the bar was open the whole night, but our biggest booze spot was the table wine.  It was just so easy to fill up glasses at the tables, so it seemed that the wine went quickly!

Most liquor stores will let you return unopened bottles. Why not get three or four cases of each, just in case? Then you can always return them. (I’d make sure someone has “collect all bottles of wine” as their end of night task to make sure some of those bottles don’t wander off!)

also – are you talking a case of six or twelve? a case of six bottles has about 30 glasses of wine, a case of 12 has about 60… so you will have 45-90 glasses of wine with a case and a half. You can never be sure of whether people will go for red or white, so just be aware that if 90 people have two glasses of wine, you will be completely out!

For the same number of people and length of time I had 4 cases of red and 4 of white. We also had a open bar with all sorts of liquor and beer. I think we had maybe 10 bottles of wine leftover? My wedding planner advised against us having a champagne toast because a lot of people don’t like sparkling wine, so Im not sure you’re right about bubbly being popoluar? especially a sweet one. Good luck!
