Our DOC is doing our flowers for $2,000. We looked at several florists in this price range, and the quality varied widely--one shop wanted to change us 450 for the bridal bouquet, and another charged 200 for the same flowers. If you can find a florist who works out of their home, they seemed to offer the best prices.
What type of flowers/style are you looking for?
My flowers:
my bouquet
4 bridesmaids bouquets
6 groomsmen and usher bouts
3 dad & grandpa bouts
2 mom corsage
2 grandma corsage
25 centerpieces
will come to around $600
My cake is a very small one and will be $60, but my dessert table for 150 guests will come to $383 total with the cake.
I paid over $5,500 for my flowers and although I really wanted orchids, which are some of the most expensive flowers, I feel like I was over charged by the florist, looking back. I went with style + to be honest I didn't price around too many other florists due to out of state planning/time constraints... but I should have. Typically, you save more money by going with a florist in the suburbs...and of course going with less expensive flowers/flowers in season or flowers that give you 'more bang for the buck' like hydrangeas. The cake was included in our food + bev fee so not sure of the breakdown.
hi there, i'm also a september chicago bride--we recently shopped around for florists, and it seems like $3500 was the 'average' price we were quoted between four florists for ceremony and reception flowers. however, this also includes the price of renting a backdrop and 6 pedestals for our ceremony since it's at our hotel. we interviewed two suburban florists and two in chicago, and wound up booking a chicago-based florist because she was most familiar with our site and seemed to 'get' us the most. we have 5 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen, and are expecting to use about 15 centerpieces. to be honest the suburban florists weren't any cheaper, and the ones we found were a lot less creative than the chicago ones. good luck!!!
My sister is a florist in Chicago (Scarlet Petal) and she says typically her clients spend about 8-10% of their wedding budget on flowers.
our cake is included with our catering (total around $12,000 for 100 people, including linens, tableware, servers, etc). our flower should run us $1200 max - this includes ceremony flowers, 5 bouquets, cocktail and reception decor. i'm having bouts made by elleFdesigns on etsy for $100 (for 5).
hi bees, well i'm a september bride and we just got our cake ordered. We went a few places and were looking for a pretty simple and elegant round cake with 3 or 4 layers (we are expecting 180 people) and the prices ranged from $500 on the low end and went as high as $2000. The consultant at the bakery we ended up choosing made a wonderful suggestion-have a 3 layer cake fully decorated for pics and cutting and then a full sheet cake in the same flavors w/out full decor in the back kitchen area. We went for it, a beautiful 3 layer round cake-atomic cake (tastes soooo good!) and a full sheet feeding 200 people for under $700! Def shop around and if your decor on the cake includes flowers or ribbon, sometimes the bakery will cut you a break if you get it yourself

Hi Chicago Bees,
My wedding is in mid-September and I'm running a bit behind interms of planning. I don't currently live in Chicago and would appreciate estimates of what I should expect to spend on flowers for the wedding and a wedding cake that will feed 200.
Thanks!
