Those prices seem about right, even like a good deal (crazy I know!). That's what it would cost in Boston for an established person who comes to you at the hotel to get you ready. If you find someone more obscure/less established, you may be able to save, but then you're going to have to chance the results...
I'm affaid so. I was so shocked at this one girls rates for simply a freaking trial. I've only looked into MUA. I haven't even given thought to hair yet. I can only deal with one heart attack at a time.
My hair (and 3 BMs) was ~$500, My make-up (and 5 BMs) was ~800. They came to the hotel and were awesome. Sorry, it is what it is in NYC
That sounds about right...we paid about $700-750 for hair for 5 of us, and about $650 for makeup for 6 of us.
That sounds about right.
I booked ours during a promotion so got hair & makeup for 6 + hair & makeup trial for me for around $1100.
We went to them but to come to us would have been another $100?
I am paying $1200 for hair for me and 7 BMs and $1200 for make up for me and 9 others (BMs, Mom, FMIL). Total it will probably be around $3000 incl tip......
edit: Yikes! Seen that in print makes me kind of nervous!
I'm in Northern VA and the metro DC prices are high too. It was $450 for me to do hair and makeup (that includes the trial). For everyone else it's $85 for makeup or hair ($170 for to do both).
I spent $125 on my hair and $85 on my makeup. BM's were $85 for updo and $75 for makeup I think. I am in NJ.
That's probably right.... I'm getting married in MI, and for our 6 person bridal party it will be between $700-800. I would think prices in any big city would definitely be higher
Thanks SO much for these replies! I feel a lot better knowing that this is the going rate. @cabanagrl, I know, writing down the actual numbers makes me feel queasy!

Long-time lurker, first-time poster!
I'm just starting to research hair and makeup, and am undergoing a bit of sticker shock. Do I just have to accept that makeup for five will cost $700+, and hair another $700+? Or is it possible to find good artists who charge less?
Spending $1400 on this stuff sounds a little crazy, but will further research show me that it's a completely reasonable price?
Thanks for your advice!!
