Just out of curiosity…How much time did you give your girls to place their dress orders (if you were all ordering from the same shop)? I sent out an email and a few girls got on it right away, and a couple haven’t even responded at all (I’ll probably call soon to chat anyways, but don’t want to hound them about the dress…especially since the holidays are here).

Well, it depends on how long the dresses will take to order/alter. You can find this out through research, but even better is actually calling up the store and asking their experience on the matter.
I think giving them 2 weeks without correspondence would be the most I could take. After getting in touch with them, I might allow them up to a month to actually order the dress if we had ample time for the ordering and alterations.

- Wedding: May 2013 - Walt Disney World
My BMs’ dresses are coming from David’s Bridal and my wedding is next May. I sent them an e-mail requesting that they order by December so as not to lose the sale price (for fear that they may be phased out and I would have to do with another dress). Today is the first of the month and I just sent them a reminder to get their dresses before the new year. I know no one has ordered their’s yet (two of the BMs are my sisters, so my mom will have to get on their asses), my MOH is confirmed pregnant (so we are on the hunt for a different dress for her), and my FSIL still needs to get hers. Here’s to hoping they order before NYE!

Thanks for the advice.
The store is telling me they could take up to 3 months to come in (which I tend to believe based on the fact that my gown, made by the same designer, isn’t in until mid-December/early January and I ordered it August 6th from the same shop as well).
BMs are spread out all over and I am hoping to get the dress in before the shower so I can give them the dress in person (and save myself shipping costs) and leave plenty of time for alterations.
I think I might wait 5 more days before contacting the two that are incomunicado…
I realize the world doesn’t revolve around my wedding…at the same time, I look back at times I’ve been a BM and I was right on top of it with the dress (and whatever else I had to do), even during times when I had no money. To each, his own, I guess!
