How much time would you recommend taking off from work BEFORE the wedding? And what did you do during this time?
Soon-to-be married bees,
How much time do you plan to take off BEFORE the wedding?
I was planning on taking 2 days off before my wedding, but I am starting to wonder if this will be enough!

Two days. I was going to take 3, but I switched jobs and don’t have enough time accrued anymore to take more than the 2 before and 2 after. Boo. It should be enough time though.

I’m planning on taking 2 days (Thursday & Friday) off before the wedding. I am debating on adding on that Wednesday, to make it 3 days off, but I’m still not sure. I don’t know how much there will be to do those days (hopefully not too much!!) so I’m interested to see what other Bees say!

I’m not sure! We are getting married on a Sunday over a holiday weekend, but I’m stuck between just the Friday prior OR the Thursday and Friday prior. I probably won’t take any time off after the wedding, since I have that Monday off anyway. If we do a mini moon, I may take that Thursday and Friday off after the wedding to do a long Disney weekend (we are doing Greece for our honeymoon in July or August).

I’m a teacher. My last day is June 19. My wedding is August 12. I have no idea how many days off that is 🙂

I took 3 days off before the wedding, but mostly because our venue was in my hometown — 3 hours from where we are currently living. If we had been getting married where we were living I probably would have only taken one or two days off. I had finished most of our projects the week before and didn’t really have much to do those days. I know it’s different for everyone with how much stuff they need to get done at the last minute.

I took 3 days off before the wedding, and I wish I took off more only bc of the crazy last minute demands that my in-laws made when they came into town. It ate up so much time that I had originally slated for last minute things. Under normal circumstances, 3 days would have been enough time.

I wanted to take a whole week off, just to relax and spend time with family, however with being sick, and off work for almost the whole past month i will not have enough PTO accured to do so. Our wedding is a friday, so i have to take wed, thu, fri off. I also took a whole week afterwards off too, and im sure ill have to cut it down to only mon and tues off afterwards.

I’m moving out of state & switching jobs, with the wedding in between. I think I’m going to be between jobs for 2- 3 weeks.

My wedding is Saturday July 6th, so I am taking 2 days off, but this is equaling 3 days because we have July 4th off.

None! I work in government and we have furlough days so it is the Feiday before my wedding. Also, my wedding is on a holiday Monday so it works out perfectly for me.

Im just taking the day before.. which really wont be a day “off”, because we are decorating the reception space + rehearsal dinner.
But, we are taking 14 days off after the wedding so we couldn’t take any off before.

I’m taking off 3-4 days. We’re hosting a DIY welcome BBQ dinner for the entire 125-150 person guest list on Friday, as well as doing all our own flowers and decoration prep and setup for the wedding Saturday, so I’m thinking I’ll need it. Plus, it’s a destination-ish wedding and a lot of friends and family are coming in early, so we want to spend as much time as we can with them.
