How much time do you give yourself in the morning between the time when your alarm goes off and when you have to be out the door?
This week I just started having to leave an hour earlier and I'm wondering if I am leaving myself enough time compared to other girls.
Usually an hour, although it depends on whether I need to blow dry my hair.
I am of the mindset that I sleep as late as possible. I shower at night, usually don't wear make up, and my hair is usually in a half pony or full pony.
My alarm goes off at 8am and I have to be out the door by 8:30.
Sometimes I hit snooze and it gets very tight. (I also get breakfast at the office)
LOL this is going to make people crack up. I get up at 7:35 (hit snooze 3 times) I shower and get dressed and I am out the door at 7:50. I manage to shave my legs and do makeup in this time frame too. I don't blow dry my hair though. LOL I know I'm not the norm.
my alarm goes off at like 545am but i hit snooze a bunch of times and finally get out of bed at 620am. i leave at 730am. i should be getting up at 6am but i have such issues geting out of bed in the morning so i have to rush.
It takes me 5-10 min in the shower, I get dressed and pull some of my hair on the top of my head and put a clip in and I'm out the door! My FI laughs at and loves the fact I'm not like "most" girls... lol what can I say I hate wearing makeup and putting too much effort in how I look.
When I used to work I had to leave by 7:45 so I'd wait to get out of bed till 7:15-7:30 lol. Shower/ dress/ makeup in the car... brush my hair on the way into work and put it in a pony...
90 minutes but only because I take my dog on a 20-30 minute walk if I'm leaving him at home while I'm at work. I only need about an hour if I take him to doggy daycare and don't need to walk him first thing :)
I wake up, shower, throw on clothes and head out the door. Takes 12-15 minutes.
Depends. I shower/blow dry every other day. On shower days I get up an hour before I have to leave, and on non-shower days, fifteen minutes.
I have a dog to walk too. And I try to clean up the house before I leave. I take 2 hours. I was wondering if I was crazy. You 30 minute people are very impressive.
@cvbee: I don't know if you'd still call it impressive the way my hair looks some days.
Im up at 5:05, in the shower and ready by 6:00. Then I pack lunches and breakfast and get my son up at 6:30 and we are out the door by 6:50
My schedule varies a lot. Some days I don't have to be at work until 11, so I usually get up at 9:30, shower and dress and then catch up on facebook, e-mail, weddingbee over breakfast. Other days, I go in much earlier, so I'll only get up about 20 minutes before I need to leave, throw on some clothes and eat a bowl of cereal before I head out the door. I MUST eat breakfast before leaving the house, even if it means putting off a shower until after work.
Up by 7:30, wet my hair and toss some product in it, out the door by 7:40 at the latest. I have short hair, I shower in the evenings, and I don't wear makeup to work because there are only two people working in my office and I don't feel the need to slick on mascara for either of them. I eat a quick breakfast when I get to work and brew my morning mug of tea.
I used to work directly across the street from my apartment. I could pretty much wake up ten minutes before I had to be at work, and still have time to quickly do my hair and makeup before I left my place and strolled across the road to the store.
I work second shift so I'm up by 10am and start getting ready for work around 12:30 - out the door at 1:30.
I mean to get up at 6:00, but I'm NOT a morning person, so it's usually closer to 6:20. I'm out the door by 7:05 at the very latest, and even that's a struggle. I shower, dry/straighten my hair, and pack my lunch during that time. Ideally I'd have an hour and a half in the morning, because I'm so slow moving when I wake up. That will never happen though. :)
@KatNYC2011: That is exactly my schedule. I have to leave at 8, I *try* to roll out of bed at 7:30, brush my teeth, put my hair up, put some clothes on and out the door I go. I also eat breakfast when I get to the office.
wow I usually give myself at least an hour to get ready. Like wake up at 6:45 leave the house by 8:20. I get up, shower, make coffee, drink the coffee and let my hair air dry a little, maybe check my email. Then get ready. I don't like to rush myself, because then I am frazzled the rest of the day!
It depends how early I need to be at work. If I have to be out the door at 5:15, I set my alarm for 4:50 and rush, drinking coffee in the car. But if I don't need to leave until 7:45, I'll set my alarm for 6:40 so I have time make breakfast, etc.
I honestly don't know how I do it, but I can get up at 8:30, take a shower, blow dry/straighten hair, do make up, get dressed, and be out the door before 9! My hair is way past my sholders too! This is even my routine on days I'm "dressed up". Sweats and hair up days take me about 10 minutes to get ready. Like I said, I don't know how i do it!
Iam so pokey. My alaram goes off around 6:15 and I am running out the door at 7:30. It used to be worse than this...
I have 15 minutes to get up, get ready, and be out the door. FI likes to lounge around and he is not a morning person but he takes me to work so we don't enjoy mornings at our house.
Geez. I feel really slow compared to everyone else. I dilly dally a lot (respond to texts and emails, make phone calls). Usually takes me an hour and a half to get ready (shower, blow dry, some makeup, packing lunch, getting the dog ready to go out, enjoying coffee if I have it...) and I love when I have two hours to do an awesome job with my makeup. When I work the earlier shift though I get done it all done in about half an hour :)
when both hubby and i used to work in offices, i would wake up when he was leaving (6:45--he had a long commute) to walk the dog. then i'd walk the pup, go to the gym, clean up the apt, write emails, etc, and finally start getting dressed like around 8:30 and be out the door around 9/9:15-- so it would be over 2 hours! i got really used to having that time, so i get stressed now if i need to get ready faster than that. plus the dog's morning walk is usually my responsibility, so that takes time. me actually showering and getting dressed though usually is only 30 mins, unless i'm having one of those days where i hate all my clothes and can't pick out an outfit...ugh hate those days, lol! but yeah, luckily my grad school classes are very rarely early so i can wake up and just putter around and start studying when the coffee kicks in
I always mean to give myself an hour but I love the snooze button, usually I end up with 20 minutes left to shower and head off to work.
I work a different schedule every single day. What I do is really silly but I go from the time day give me say I have to be there at 9 and its a half hour commute so thats 8:30 and then I give myself an hour and twenty minutes before that so I need to get up at 7:10. I wake up then, shower, sit around on the computer being lazy, then put on makeup/dry hair. By 8 I am usually finished so with the extra half hour I am either on the computer or go eat breakfast.
I guess WB doesn't like my vote. I voted 0-30 minutes. That's just during the week when I have class in the mornings. I give myself 45-60 minutes when I need to "get ready" for something, but that's only if I need to shower. Without a shower (which is most of the time), I give myself the same 30 minutes. The difference is that I'm awake and don't find myself wandering my 1 bedroom apartment aimlessly like I do in the mornings. haha
uhhhh... this morning I was out the door in 15 min. That includes waking up brushing teeth, putting hair in a pony tail, going to the bathroom if needed and getting changed.
I had to stop checking WB before I go to work because it always delays by at least 30 min to an hour.
I tend to lollygag in the morning, so I like to give myself 90 minutes. That gives me time to shower, do my hair and makeup, have a cup of coffee, peroose the Internet, pack lunch and get dressed.
I take my time in the morning, sitting on the couch drinking tea. but also I rarely leave the house first thing in the morning, because I mostly work from home.
@KatNYC2011: I am of the exact same mindset!!
I dont really see the point in getting really cute to go to my office to sit in a cubicle all day! I would rather sleep later and enjoy that as much as possible. There are mornings where Ive woken up 10 mins before Im supposed to leave and I still make it to work on time!
Our alarm goes off at 600am and we're out the door by 700 am.
In that time frame we both shower, take the dog out, feed the dog, take the dog out again, make breakfast (cereal 2 out of 5 days, egg mcmuffins (or some kind of hot cooked breakfast) 2 out of 5 and oatmeal one day) and eat breakfast together.
And usually some quick house clean up as well.
I snooze from 6 am to 6:15. I am out the door by 6:40.
I used to shower in the mornings, but I've switched that to the night before and it works out SO MUCH BETTER. I am not one of those people who can get out of the shower in 5-10 mins. I'll take at least 15-20. I simply don't want to leave the hot shower and step out.
Plus this also works well for Canadian winters when you have to shovel your ass out the door and those 5-10 mins can be put to 'good' use. Lol!
I wake up, brush my teeth, wash/cleanse my face, put on clothes and out the door. I don't even need to brush my hair because it's VERY curly.
I found I can be at my desk one hour after getting up on an average day, less if I focus and catch the bus without waiting. However, I don't wear makeup most days and my hair air dries. i din't know how it is possible to blow dry and straighten long hair in less than an hour so I only do that the night before and very rarely as I like morning showers to wake me up.
I get up at 5:30 am and leave the house at 6 am to be at work at 6:30. I just don't give a shit to get myself all prettied up to run around like a maniac in a hospital. :)
Does anyone work out in the morning? I am up at 5am - either run or do videos/lift weights for an hour, make coffee, in the shower by 6:10 out by 6:30 and then 30 minutes to get dressed, blow dry my hair, do my make up and make lunch for the day. Out the door at 7 and then to work for 8 - I have an hour long commute - yuck! I seriously envy those who can shower at night! I find that a shower wakes me up and gets me going - plus after working out, I kind of need one! :-)
Up by 5:50 just to hit the snooze button, really up by 6:05, leave the house by 7:00, on a good day. So about a hr.
