I have been researching carseats since I got my BFP. I have found lots of them in good price ranges but I really dislike the pattern. Today I found a super adorable one that is gender neutral for $120 which in my opinion is still a good price. It also has everything else I was looking for. So my question is how much did you spend on a car seat?

Ours is $179. I researched and am willing to pay how ever much it costs to protect my child.

My daughter’s car seat was almost $200, but for our infant car seat I’m sticking with the Graco system we had last time (we’re buying it new, but it’s the same brand). So car seat and stroller combined was $179 for both. I love Graco, it’s solid and safe, and it’s lightweight and easy to maneuver in and out of the car and clip right into the stroller. Which with 2 kids to wrangle, is going to be as important as safety!

I guess I am more concerned about the safety rating of a car seat than the pattern and how it looks?
I researched brand and model first then from that picked the pattern/color I liked of that model.
We registered for the Chicco KeyFit 30 which is $180~.

@regberadaisy: We obviously looked at safety also which is why I said I found a good pattern WITH everything else we were looking for.

We bought a travel system – BabyTrend Expedition ELX. Which came to $240 for the stroller and car seat. A quick Google says the car seat alone costs about $100.

I think up to $200 is pretty typical.

We also registered for the Keyfit, which was around $180. Luckily, I think my MIL purchased it for us.

We bought a Graco travel system. So car seat and stroller for $189.00

we got a Graco travel system that was around $170 i think (got it as a gift), so it included the infant car seat, base, and stroller. we have been happy with it so far – it is lightweight, making it easy to take LO in and out of the car (a friend of mine has a Peg Perego and that thing weighs a TON), it is sturdy and easy to install. no problems so far 🙂
We’re getting closer to switching to a convertible seat and are trying to decide between a Graco My Ride 65 ($140) and a Britax Marathon ($220).
Also, keep in mind that more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better! I think a lot of people think that since they spent more on their seat, they are taking higher safety precautions to protect their LO…but a lot of the less expensive seats are just as safe. Check out the book Baby Bargains — they provide recommendations for lower, medium, and higher budgets.

My brother & SIL got us ours; Sweet! When are you planning to assemble yours? Ours is still in the box.
I LOVE Baby Bargains. 🙂 Babble also has a best budget category for all their product results as well.

We bought a pair of Graco Snugride 35’s for $100 each. Highly rated and normally retail for about $170-180 I think. We got a January clearance sale at BRU where they were getting rid of last year’s fabric + twin discount, so we got a screamin deal.

I have the Eddie Bauer convertible car seat in my car (came with the stroller) and my FI has the Britax Marathon 70 in his car. Grandma has the Graco My Ride 65 in her car.
I liked the Eddie Bauer seat especially when our daughter was newborn-10 months because I could transfer her from car seat to stroller without taking her out. Or take her from car seat into the house when she was sleeping as its also an infant carrier. We didn’t get the Britax Marathon until she was 12 months. Both the Britax and Eddie are good up to 70 lbs so I can use for awhile. The Graco is good up to 65 lbs. I like them all!

We also got the Chicco Keyfit 30 and decided on that based on safety. My dad actually went ahead and bought us the whole travel system. I know that stroller isn’t the top recommended but we put it all together and it seems fine to us, plus he gave it to us. So we would have spent around $180 on a car seat (it was $300 for both).
The car seat was actually put together in the box but I played around with it to see how to use it. After the second confirmation (hopefully but probably) of a girl this week then we’ll try to put it in the car. We got it in the Bella Pink color and it’s beautiful.

They seem to be a lot cheaper for you guys than they are here. Decent ones are €200-250, so I’d imagine that’s about $300. Boo.
