Not sure how much I should tip my vendors, or who I should tip, rather.
My DJ is a friend whom I’ve worked with on serveral occasions – I’ve hired her at my work many times, and because I give her so much business, she gave me a discount on her DJ services for my wedding. Her fee is $300, this includes ceremony & dinner & dancing music. So from around 3 pm to 11 pm. She isn’t part of a company and owns her own equipment.
For my hair stylist, I am paying $300 for myself [including my trial] and 3 other girls. She owns the company she works for, but will be coming with the makeup artist, so I’d like to tip her and the makeup artist in equal amounts.
My makeup artist does not own her company and works for the hair artist [The Purple Door Salon & Spa]. I am paying $300 total for myself [including my trial] and 3 other girls. The makeup will be airbrush and includes false lashes.
We are paying our bartender $150 and allowing her a tip jar. She is a licensed bartender.
We are paying $600 for our officiant. Her services include the rehearsal the day before, and the ceremony the day of. Her contract stated that we must rent her a hotel room for the night of the rehearsal, and she lives very far away. We have done so. She has been awesome thus far and has worked with us to give us an extremely unique ceremony.
And lastly, we have a gentleman from my work who has offered to help us out on the day of. He will help set up the ceremony site, usher in the parents/grandparents, direct people where to park, set out cocktail food, clean up/take out trash, and set out food during the reception dinner. He hasn’t told me the exactly amount he would like to be paid, just whatever we can afford. I know he is doing us a huge service and I am thankful.
How much do you think I should tip these vendors/helpers? Other information is that our wedding isn’t super formal, really laid back and easy going. We have been telling guests who ask to wear “semi formal” attire, if that helps.
