How much to tip?

1. DJ I would do 20% (so around $60 unless her typical fee is higher…then I would do a bit more). I tipped my DJ $100 ($500-600 typical fee for their service).

2. Tricky about hair stylist. I’ve heard you are never expected to tip the owner of an establishment, but just pay the fee (check on this). If you are inclined, at least 15% of their fee.

3. Makeup artist- I would say (as she works for the other and doesn’t own her own company) between 15-20% (think about the quality of her work).

4. I would still tip the bartender about 15% and let the rest come from the tip jar. Most people do leave a nice tip for bartenders at weddings because they work hard.

5. I’m not sure. We did not tip our officiant as it was a $200 flat fee for her service. Check into that one.

Since you are asking this as an etiquette question,  as the host, it is your responsibility to cover the bartender’s tip. Tip jars are inappropriate.
