there's been some complaints about the possible bias of ring value / appraisal. so HERE!
How much did you/he actually PAY for the ring?
Let's get at least 150 answers for a more accurate view!!
Mine might throw it off a bit, but DH paid $1700 for my ring & it's value is $4600...... We had a diamond wholesaler get it for us =)
1 ct round solitaire 6 prong 2mm band.
Mine was £1,099... Not sure what that is in us dollars... $1,700... or around there I think.
$0. Its my great grandmothers. However, I've had it appraised twice - once at a jewelry store and once by an estate appraisal expert. The jewelry store quoted me around 4600, but the estate expert appraised it at 5500 because its age give it value (its from 1926 and cut in a way that is not done anymore). I figure the real value is probably somewhere in between.
He paid $3000 for my set but he already had the center stone.(.88 VS1 F color)

a girl I worked with had a 20k ring. Im trying to find one online that looks like it. She was obnoxious about it though, so I don't want to glorify it :P
my Fi saw my post and got mad lol, said it was more like 6500 :P
Wasn't sure if this was e-ring only or both but e-ring was about $1,500 and band was about $800.
FI paid about $2,400 for the ring but it is appraised at $3,700. It a .50 carat VVS1 D color. I thougt it was G for some reason for the longest tome but I look at the certificate and it's a D. He couldn't have done a better job!
And I'm with the oher bees, let's see some of those diamonds that cost more than my new car!
Ring was originally $5300...but with a store discount of 20%, tax, and extra "insurance" package, it ended up being around 4700, of which I paid half. Looking back we prob could have gotten the ring I was in love with at a local jeweler for what we paid for this one, but I do still love it...haven't seen anyone with something like it so far :-).
FI and I always agreed that we preferred a stone that was higher quality and smaller, but he still managed to get a pretty good size. It was in the 13,000-15,000 range. One of these days I'm going to get a good picture!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was between $6000-$7000. He won't tell me an exact number. lol He just says "too much." ha!

Paid a little over $9000, was appraised for $12,000. 2.61 tcw

I think FI paid around 8k for mine, maybe slightly under. I will never know for sure. 1.1 fancy intense yellow center .6 side stones.
I think mine was around $12k because the center stone is a colorless and internally flawless 1.5+c cushion cut set on in a platinum half pave band.
We got a very good deal on the ring and it appraised for around $19k because of the high quality of the center stone.

I'm not sure many people on the high end could feel comfortable posting their ru gd next to a price tag in this forum. There's alot of " I would kill him if he spent_" and " it's nuts to spend _" Kinda hard to say woo hoo he spent __ and not only did I NOT die or kill him neither of us are nuts and here's my fabulous expensive bling!
@KatNYC2011: aww thank you. when FI is anniversary gift shopping for you I can recommend a jeweler on 47th st. he ships overseas.
@MASPA: Thank you so much!! I love emerald cuts, too... When I started ring hunting, I knew it had to be an emerald cut, I just couldn't keep my eyes off them! Your ring is so pretty, it's so unique!! I bet you get that a lot haha (but you never get tired of hearing it, right?) Love it!
I think he paid in the $9k range, it appraised for $12k though
center stone is .8, sides are .32 each (he had to purchase all 3). i think its about 1.75 total weight
Here's my baby! He paid about $40 to get the ring resized, (it was his mothers) and $499 for my band but the whole set was appraised for $2500
I don't know! Somewhere in the 11k range, but I have no idea the exact amount.
My ring is 2.71 carats all together. My band adds another half a carat or so. ETA - I only have crappy cell phone pics of my rings.
