We’re going to Excellence Playa Mujeres for 6 nights. With flights, airport transfers, and 6nights in the two story rooftop pool suite is just under $4K. When we went to talk to a travel agent the exact same trip and itenirary was $7k! So we booked online, it comes with a honeymoon package as most resorts do.

We’re going to Sun Palace Cancun for 6 nights. We’re going in the off-season (June) and paid just under $2900, including flight, hotel and airport transfers.

We went to Sandals Negril in Jamaica for 7 days it was ~$5000 + about $1000 for the airfare. We stayed in a room that was a bit too floofy for us, and we know now that we can totally get a cheaper room (and subsequently save about $1000 or so). We got a 2 story honeymoon suite then proceeded to not hardly even be IN the room, lol, so that was wasteful (but we know now). And hey, it was our honeymoon, so what the hell! We also got the butler service, which of course costs more, but it’s SO WORTH IT!! You don’t have to do anything, the butler sets up everything you wanna do for you, and they even bring you food (like, deliver it to the pool or bring you breakfast in bed). That also included the honeymoon package with champagne and pictures and a dinner on the beach and stuff. It was awesome, and we’re looking at going to a different Sandals in maybe St. Lucia or the Bahamas for a nice vacation. 😀

We went to Privilege Aluxes in Isla Mujeres, a little island off the coast of Cancun. We spent 8 nights there with airfare from San Francisco for about $3,500. But we did splurge a little and got an awesome suite with a huge balcony & jacuzzi tub, and a separate kitchen & living room on the top floor- their honeymoon suite. We’d happily go again for a smaller suite as we really didn’t spend that much time in the room anyway, but it did make for nice pictures (we got married & honeymooned at the same resort). I’m usually like you on my vacations but it was pretty sweet to not have to worry about costs once we got there. It was great really! Didn’t like what you ordered? no sweat- order something else for no charge! Get 4 drinks at once!

ETA: Forgot to add that the $3,500 we paid also included flights from Cancun to our families home state Georgia, then back to our home state in San Francisco a half week later.

We stayed at the Rio (all-inclusive) in Negril, Jamaica for 6 days, 5 nights and it was $2600 for both of us, including airfare (for reference we flew out of NJ). We booked through CheapCaribbean.com. I highly recommend it!

I’ve done a few all inclusive trips with my fiance and they always cost around 3 grand for the two of us.  We splurged since this is our honeymoon and upgraded to a rooftop terrace suit at the Excellence Punta Cana, so it’s around $5,500 for 10 days this time.

jmLL:  We did CocoBay Antigua and paid over 6k total (with airfare from FL), but it could def be done much cheaper if you opt for a non-oceanfront villa, don’t go during peak season, etc.

We stayed at Sun Palace in Cancun and spent about $4.5k total for 9 days.  We are looking to go somewhere for our 1 year anniversary and want to stay under $3k this time.  Looking forward to hearing about places that other bees found for less than $3k!

We did Excellence Punta Cana for 7 nights in an Excellence Club Jr Swim Up Suite. Including flights from DC, it was just under 5k through cheapcaribbean.com. Their customer service was great and we loved Excellence.

You will find that some island/destinations are much cheaper than other. I believe Mexico and Jamaica run among the cheapest. Others get more expensive. DR was a bit more expensive than Jamaica but we heard that it was much better, so we went with it.

gpiglet:  We booked everything through Expedia. We compared rates with literally every online travel site including the hotels and Expedia had the best deal and we also bought full cancellation and travel insurance through them. We always book our vacations through Expedia and have never had an issue!
