Question for the married ladies: how much did you pay for your professional photo album (designed by your professional photographer). Not looking for prices about picaboo, shutterfly and the like). What size? How many PAGES (1 page = 2 “sides”). Also if you know the company the album was made from that’d help too!

I dont know what the album cost on its own since its included in the package. But I’m getting a Graphi album, 8×10 with 40 pages. My package was $3k which also included assistant and 8 hours of shooting.

I didn’t end up buying the album my photographer listed but their flush mount albums were $25 per page, with a 30 page minimum.

I’m not buying from my photographer. I love her, but I can’t afford a $1000 album– I can get the same thing from the online retailers and design it myself.
(The $1000 was a 12×12 and I don’t recall the page number. They are made in Italy or something crazy? She generally does digital packages unless people ask for albums specifically.)

Not married yet but my photog charges a buttload for them, like 500.00! I’ll be keeping m eye out for a groupon to a high end site lol

My photographer gave me 3 copies of our wedding photos on CD’s (1000+ photos, 2 photographers) and paid $400. We will have to choose which ones to print out on our own.

I also don’t know how much it was, since it was part of the package, but it was about 30 pages (and we fit in about 70 photos). 😀

As a graphic designer who designs wedding albums for professional photographers, I just have to say that I know it seems like printed wedding albums are overpriced, but I can assure you that your photographer spends a TON of time and energy putting your album together. It takes me at least a week to design an album – usually more. They are not just slapping photos into an album, they are taking the time to tell a story with your photos – or at least that’s how a good photographer works. Then there are proofs and changes from the bride that tack on more hours.
I hope this didn’t come across as mean, but I always hear people complain about album costs, and it always rubs me wrong. If you have a great photographer and the books are coming from a high-end printer, I really believe it’s worth the extra money.
Again, I mean no ill will against anyone. I just wanted to give you my perspective. =)

Our album is designed by a graphic designer and is incredible quality, but yea– expensive. I have to agree with hfarrant– my sis is a graphic designer and it isn’t all about drag and drop.
Anyways, our photog wants $500-$1500 for the albums, depending on size, quality, binding, etc. As I own the rights to my pictures and my sis is a graphic designer, I am likely going to use an online site and have her design my own.

Ours is priced around $1,000 – 12×12, 20 pages (40 sides). We added two cloan parent albums (8×8) for I think $400.

Things have changed! Back when I got married in 1996, the album was part of the purchase price. I remember paying about $1500-$1800 back then and it was sooo expensive! Most photogs were charing $500-$800. But the photography was what we spent the most $ on…which is why we never took a honeymoon too. 😉

We love our photographer, we love his work. So when it came to budget we didn’t have one. His album is $2000 and I have seen all of his work and we felt he did the best in telling stories. A true artist. We felt at the end of the wedding, the only thing left would be the photos.

My “tier 2” album is costing $800. It’s the discounted price with the package but I think its a good price. My photographers albums are AMAZING! and individually bought theyre about $1200-1500. He has 4 sizes of albums, so this in the second smallest, but I think its the perfect size. About 30 pages (I think? I forget..) and customization of the cover.
