Hi Bees! I need your help.
Did anyone order a Leather Craftsmen (or comparable flush mount style album) from your photographer? How much did it cost? How much was your overall photo package?
I was married 16 months ago, and while I received the flash drive and proof book of my photos, I have yet to receive my album. It was supposed to be 30 pages, not sure what size.
I have been calling and emailing weekly for the past 4 months. She has yanked me around saying it was shipping to another bride of hers with the same name as me, blah blah blah, and is super flakey and hard to get a hold of. She told me 3 weeks ago that I’d have it within 5 business days, shipped from Leather Craftsmen. Buhhhh. I have emailed or called every day for the past 2 weeks, and she has only emailed me once, saying she would call me later (which she hasn’t…).
I’m asking for a partial refund, although I’m not sure it’s even worth the pain of dealing with her.
I paid $2700 for 8 hours of photoraphy, 400 4x6s (proof book–although I received less than 300), mix of film and digital shooting, and our engagement session. Also, our wedding was in Temecula, California.
Googling has shown me that Leather Craftsmen albums range from $500 to $1500, so I’m not sure what proportion of our package would have been for the album (no line items).
So… any ideas? What did your high-end album cost?

our photo package is $4000,
i think the breakdown was $2500 for photog’s time and $1500 for leather bound book.
our coverage starts when i tell him to get there and ends when i tell him to go home. i’m estimating about 10 hours. our ephoto session was included.
i will get a cd of every single photo taken and have full rights to them. all photos will be retouched.
the book will include 100-150 photos and those will all have extra special retouching to make sure everything is perfect.

We could have gotten a 30 page album for $130, but decided that I would make our album, instead!

@jackieee: You got an insane deal if your photographer included all of that.

We were in between two photogs so I’ll tell you what they offered:
One offered a 12×12 24 page album for $1200 and a 10×10 24 page album for $1000. It was not included in their packages and I’m not sure I could have stomached tacking it on as extra. The package from her that we would have chosen also would have been $3800.
The one we went with offers a 150 picture album as part of a package that is $3800. But I haven’t gotten the receipt yet (we just booked them) so I’m not sure what the breakdown is.

In DC (where everything is expensive) I paid $3500 for 2 shooters for 9 hours, over 1000 photos with all rights to them, a proof book, engagement shoot, and NO wedding album (would have been an extra $1000). I made my own flushmount album on Bay Photo Lab which cost about $467 for 62 pages, I reviewed it in a post here.
So basically, you got a really great deal.

Thanks for your responses! I know it was a good value, especially for my area, but since the photographer didn’t include what was in our contract and is clearly avoiding me for several months, it is not feeling like such a great deal right now…
