I went to look at wedding bands this weekend and was SHOCKED at how much they run. Granted, this is probably because my wonderful fiance purchased my engagement ring from an upscale, big-name jeweler, but still I found it surprising that the majority of their bands, other than smooth platinum, cost $5,000+.
Did any Bees purchase their bands from different jewelers? I’m worried about moving away from my engagement ring’s collection, but then again, I don’t really want to drop that much on a band.

We got my engagement ring in Ireland, after the proposal there. We got our wedding bands from a family friend who is a jeweler, and they gave us a good deal. I got a simple rose gold band with engraving on the inside for about $350. My engagement ring was silver with amethyst center stone and diamond accents. I have never worn both together.
Do you want any precious stones on your band? I agree, anything over $5,000 sounds like way too much!

@TroubadourTango: My band is a little over $5k. It’s a custom piece and is exactly what I wanted. I know it sounds like a lot, but I’m going to be wearing it every day, and I love it. Since its not a “brand name” it actually cost much less than say, a Tacori or JB Star design. We think we got a pretty good deal for a 3 ctw band.

My wedding band was the TACORI band to match. It was 5,000

Platinum is just expensive. My ering is platinum and my wedding band is 14kt white gold. I don’t wear them on the same hand, so I don’t notice the difference in color. Mine has four diamonds, 1 ct tcw, and we paid $1,000 for it.

The one I want to get is about $1100. Plain 18k yellow gold band. FI’s will be just over $600 from a different store. Also plain 18k yellow gold band.
ETA: I will be getting my wedding ring from the same place I got my engagement ring, they go so perfectly together! FI’s will be from a diferent store though.

Wow! That’s a lot! I originally wanted one from Christian Bauer but they didn’t have any sparkle (the ones I liked) and were over 2k so I ended up getting mine online for a little over 1k

@TroubadourTango: I got mine from the Zales Outlet for something around $400. I don’t remember the exact price. It’s a 1/4 ct. 3/4 infinity pave milgrain in 14K white gold. It sparkles beautifully.

i don’t know exactly how much my band was but it’s on the higher end of the poll. it’s a 4ctw full eternity band and i love it. i also have a plain band that was less than $500.

@Pearberry: Well, I’m not sure about the stones. I have the Cartier ballerine engagement ring, and I would love at least one diamond in the band if not the full band of diamonds. The full band is $6,200, which seems like a lot (I know, I know, it’s Cartier, but still).
@BlondeBee: You raise a good point – I will have to wear this for the rest of my life, so I’d better like it! It sounds like you got the ring of your dreams. 🙂

My jeweler custom designed my wedding band. I wanted a wrap that my e-ring could fit perfectly in the middle of. I found a similar one I liked at Ultra Diamonds. Took a pic of it to my jeweler and he matched my ring and it was almost $1k cheaper than the 1 at Ultra diamonds and even $300 cheaper than he originally quoted. That never happens. Mine was $1500. DHs was $1300.

I think mine was around $200, if I remember correctly. It is simple, and made of recycled palladium.

Mine was $1200, made by our jewler to match the band of my ering. At the time I had planned on getting 2 rings (one for each side), but when we emailed him to let him know we were ready to get my band(s) made and get the prices, I quickly decided to wait on the other band. We had mine made about a month out from the wedding, and at crunch time I decided the extra $1200 for a second band was not a smart purchase. Now i’m anxiously waiting to add a 2nd band on. 🙂

1200, and it’s a name brand and has diamonds on all three sides. 5k+ as the only option is REALLY steep!

Mine was $1100, which got reduced by $300 during a sales event. (Bottom; top is e-ring)
It isn’t designer though.
