How much weight did you gain from lifting weights?

@legenwaitforitdary:  Muscle is SUPER heavy–and if you’re gaining a lot of lean muscle, you’d be way thinner despite the weight gain (which is why ballerinas are SO heavy, even though they look painfully thin!)

@legenwaitforitdary:  It depends, but I found I have lost 10 lbs since I started weight training (I went from a size 2 to 00 over two years), but I also have been doing a lot of runing during that time. I find lifting weights makes me hungry so I eat more than I need to, so I really need to be aware of what I am eating.

ETA: muscle is more dense, but fat is still fat (whether it is over muscle or not). I lifted for a year and saw minimal results, then boosted my running and watched my diet and my muscled popped). For me, the key to success is 5 days cardio, 2 days weights, 6 days of a clean, healthy diet.

I gained maaaaybe 5lbs by adding weight lifting to my marathon training program.  I lost inches though, and gained a lot of strength.  It was worth it 🙂

@legenwaitforitdary:  honestly, i think you gained fat then turned that into muscle. just from weight training, you shouldn’t have gained 11 lbs.

i weight train and turned my fat into lean muscle mass.  i didn’t gain any weight, but i am also a triathlete so i do a lot of cardio in addition to weight training.

@legenwaitforitdary:  i don’t think you gained 11 lbs of fat but you said you gained 11lbs.  some of that is muscle, some of that is fat.  i know people say muscle weighs more than fat but 1lb of fat weighs the same as 1 lb of muscle.

the important thing is that you said you look and feel better than ever before.  so that is what is important.

the only way to truely know what is going on is to be tested.  at the previous gym i belonged to, every 3 months they would bring something in called the BodPod.  it was a pod you sat in that told you your entire body composition.  was supposed to be most accurate on the market.  i did it a few times and found that it was driving me more crazy than anything.  during two of the measurements, i gained 6% lean muscle mass and lost 3 lbs.

i’m not trying to sell his product in anyway, but i think his website can explain it better than i can.  http://www.befittest.com/index.html
