I have about 20 kg I want to loose before the wedding in a year and a half. Just wondering if that’s even possible. I am attending weight watchers and gyming regularly, have lots a few kg already. Any inspiring weighloss tales you waby to share?

@TG123: If you look in the search bar you will find many, many stories on here from bees who’ve lost anything from 5-100+ lbs.
I myself am aiming to lose 80lbs by the wedding, 110 overall. 10 down, 70 to go 🙂 It is possible, but make sure you don’t lose more than 2lbs (~1kg) a week – it’s not healthy or sustainable. 1.5 years is TONNES of time to do that, you could be rocking a mean lean toned body by then easy 🙂

I am getting married next month, started a serious workout plan last April, and have lost 12 lbs. I would like to lose 3-5 more before the wedding, but I am very pleased with my progress so far, especially because I am not losing weight from crash dieting or from stress. Another side (though, in reality, this is the primary) benefit is that I recently went to the Dr. for a checkup and she told me I was MUCH healthier. It felt really good to hear that, and more than looking better in my dress (which I do) that has really motivated me!

Firstly, congratulations on your weightloss to date. 🙂
I think it is completely doable but it will take hard work and commitment. I say this as I myself have lost a total of 30kg of which 10 was in the last 3 months before my wedding. I was training regularly and eating well from about 9 months before. Just focussing on getting my fitness level up as much as possible. I then got very strict with my diet (counting everything on My Fitness Pal including my fat/protein/carb procentage) about 2-3 months before the wedding and the weight fell off.
I never in a million years thought that would have been possible but it is true that you do loose weight in the weeks running up to the wedding from the stress and also from pure determination to look as good as possible in that dress.
This is my before and after pics for reference…

I lost 50 lbs in 8 months. ~1200 cals a day and 30 minutes of cardio 5ish days a week.

I’ve lost a total of 24 lbs with My Fitness Pal; I did it very gradually, technically starting in April 2012 (lost about 12 pounds, but after a summer of binging and holidays had piled 8 pounds back on), then starting in earnest in October 2012 and hitting my target weight April this year. I’m currently carrying an extra 4 lbs, and plan on shifting that over the next couple of weeks.
My starting weight was 144 lbs, so while 24 lbs doesn’t sound like a lot, percentage-wise it is, which can make weight loss slower. That and I wanted to do it very gradually (I was happy losing 2-3 lbs a month) as I felt I’d be more likely to maintain it; I’ve been maintaining is now for about 6 months, and on average my weight is between 118-122 lbs, which I’m very happy with.
One thing I’d add: I didn’t do this for the wedding; I did it for me. I didn’t like how I looked (I lost my curves at 144 lbs and felt fat, despite still being well within the healthy BMI range at 5’7″), and felt lethargic, bloated, and just downright unhealthy. I feel SO much better having lost the weight, and now have my curves back 😀

I really want to lose 10 lbs. Tried on dresses this past weekend…and WOAH.
I used to be 113-115…and I haven’t weighed myself in MONTHS. I just weighed in at 126 after I realized that some of the dresses were a little too tight…and now I know why.
I want to be able to SIT at my wedding haha!

I lost 15 lbs from stress in a month and a half. The dress ship where I got my dress from said that they see it pretty frequently, with brides coming in for emergency alterations like 2 days before the wedding.
