Hello lovely hive!
I picked out bridesmaids dresses for my girls this weekend. I love how it fits on them and I think it will be flattering on all body types, it compliments the style of my dress, and it comes in the colors I wanted BUT, with tax, shipping, AND the discount they get it’s $188. Does this seem like too much? I have only been in two weddings and one dress was $136 and the other was like $169. To top it off they have to have their dresses paid in full by May1st and it’s a few days away from April right now. I let all my girls know, and I told them that if they couldn’t have it paid by then I would pay the $18 discount they would have gotten. My mom said I shouldn’t do that as well as a few of my girls, I just want the girls to know that if they need help I will help them.
In addition to this my cousin is a full figured girl and depending on what size she needs they are going to charge her $10 or $40 more for the dress. I’m contemplating on quietly paying the shop that $40 towards her dress so she doesn’t have to feel bad. I think it’s terrible that they charge extra for that! UGH!!
Is anyone else experienced any feelings or issues like this? What should I do just make them pay for it all? Pay a little to those who can’t afford??
This dress below but in avocado and a chocolate sash at the bottom.

Have you looked into an online retailer such as netbride? I’m not sure which designer this is, but I used Watters and Watters for my wedding and the dresses that were originally $230 ended up being $156. I have been in a lot of wedding and have usually paid anywhere from $200- $300.

I love that dress first of all!
My BM dresses are $189 each. They were over $200 but we received a discount and that’s what it came down to. I talked to the girls before and we agreed that under $200 would be the budget that we were looking at.

My girl’s got their dresses for $90-$150….I gave them 5 similar dresses to choose from, they got to pick which one they liked best and some of them did choose the cheapest dress and some of them chose the most expensive….it depends on the person. I would ask your Bridesmaids what they’re comfortable paying, get an idea of the average price range. I think it would be nice if you contributed the extra $$ for the plus size dress….very sweet of you to be worried about her feelings!

I saved $45 on my girls dresses just by shopping around. I found them at a store down here for $120 but the store I was planning on ordering from where they live was $165. Basically the dresses only cost $120 but the store was charging $45 just to give them the right to have it altered there. I forgot the term she used but basically it was $45 cheaper if they agreed not to have their alterations done there (seems a bit backward don’t you think?). I’d call around to all the shops and see where the cheapest price is and call the store where you want to order them from and tell them what price you found.

My dress was originally $225 but we ordered them on netbride and paid $165 (no tax and no shipping fees). I think it’s a great deal.

Really pretty dress but are you sure your girls all feel comfortable wearing such a formfitting style? It doesn’t look like it would be very forgiven to any flaws.
My dresses were between $250 and $300 each (they girls are wearing different styles in the same color from Jim Hjelm) but I found the money in the budget to pay for them because I knew most of my BMs couldn’t afford that.

Some places will offer a discount if all of the bridesmaids order from the same place. I know that has happened with me in the past when purchasing a BM dress. I’ve paid anywhere from $130-$180 not counting alterations.

My BM dresses were $198 but ordering 5 together got us a 10% discount. All the girls love it already too which is awesome.
When I was a BM my dress was $350, and I haven’t been able to wear it again.

My girls’ dresses were more than I wanted them to have to spend (190) but I loved the dress and they look great! To offset that a little I’m planning on paying for their hair and possibly getting them a gift card as part of their bridesmaid present.
