How Much Will Your Wedding Cost/ Did it?
I am hoping to stay under 18k which includes the smallest of details... to the honeymoon.
Ours'll stay between 3-5k. We live in a sparsley populated area and are saving for the future too... so we won't be doing anything too fancy.
I just wanted to post this thread asking the same thing (but before polls were available) a while ago and it had a lot of responses!! http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/what-didwill-your-wedding-cost
For some reason the direct link won't work -- but if you copy and paste it into a new window it should work -- there were 183 responses!!
Hmmm the results of this poll are really interesting... apparently WB has alot of upper-upper-middle class people (or parents bankrolling the wedding)... my parents are probably giving us 40-50k but we don't plan on going that big or that elaborate (despite what my parents are probably thinking)
We're spending about $7500 not including rings and honeymoon. All in we're about $9500 - more than we both wanted to spend. Oops.
We are spending about 3000.00 total including everything.
We got very lucky and my step-father is a member of a golf club locally.
one of the perks of being a member there is you can get married there for free~!
So we are having the ceremony and reception there all for free! This includes private rooms for when we are getting ready that day (one for the boys and one for the girls) , chairs, decorations, etc.
in the reception room we have a huge dance floor, servers, they even include CENTERPIECES! all for FREE! the only thing we have to pay for is the food. and my father already said he wants to take care of it ^^
LUCKY!!
Our is look like it will be about 11- 12,000 right now.
We have found awesome options to cut costs, including a lot of DIY options and this doesn't include honeymoon
Osakagrl: You are so lucky for that venue! Awesome.
Trying to keep ours betweek 12-15K including rings/honeymoon!
Ours will like end up around 20k, but hoping it will be more like 17k (not including honeymoon). I am doing a lot of DIY which is helping on costs, but our venue is right on the ocean, and the food and drinks, while VERY GOOD, are also $$. Food/drinks/venue is most of our budget, and there's just no getting around that.
my wedding was $15 K, but I wasn't sure about the honeymoon, so I put $16K-$19K.
Mine seems like it'll be about 40k... i'm trying to keep it below 35k though. Hopefully I'll be able to!
This poll has surprising answers!
Ours will be about 10, 000, NOT including the honeymoon, which is a little over 5k, but FFIL is footing that as a wedding gift.
Our budget right now is at $16,500 including rings but not honeymoon. My parents are helping pay for part of the wedding and say we can keep any leftover money to put towards a down payment on a house. I would LOVE to shave a few thousand off and I think it may be feasible but we do have 220 guests with a full meal...There's got to be a way though!
Wow. I'm really amazed at how even the responses are to the poll. Right now it looks like every money bracket is just about evenly represented. I guess it goes to show that weddingbee attracts readers from all walks of life and with the whole range of wedding budgets.
We are shooting for around 10k not including HM and rings! Trying to save where we can because thats more then I would like to spend. we both Military so thats a lot. Uncle Sam is good to us but not that good! LOL
I just finished the totals and it came in at 33K without rings and honeymoon. But that included accommodations for a destination wedding so I'm trying not to be too appalled since our budget was 28K
We want to keep it around 10k excluding the rings and honeymoon.
We are at 55k right now but that includes our rings and honeymoon. Big weddings are kind of a tradition in my fi's family.
i'm glad to see a range too. i'm not yet planning, and i am operating under the assumption that BF and I will be paying for everything ourselves so it's nice to know a great wedding can be pulled off for less than $10K (which will prob be an absolute max for us!) anyone have any good budgeting sites they can recommend?
When all is said and one, we'll be spending about $28-30k in central IL - 200ish people, formal sit-down dinner and dancing reception.
You could do it for less, you could do it for more. It really depends on how many you invite and where you are.
Our budget is 50k, excluding rings (5k for both bands) and honeymoon (budgeting 8k). We're doing 125 guests in a major city, and we definitely have to budget to stay at 50k!
we wanna keep it around 10-12K. while my parents are paying for most of it, his parents are doing RD, and we are prob doing a honeymoon registry. Mom says "no budget" but i would rather not spend TONS of money in this economy ya know?
jaxx: we are paying for our wedding ourselves, too and ours is at 11k-ish
I use weddingchannel.com for planning our budget
Start looking now at all your venue options.... they book up fast. We found a handful of pretty, inexpensive and ideal locations and then had to work with availability.
We are doing our best to stay in the $8000-$9000 range. It helped to book early, we got all kinds of early bird discounts, even from our caterer!
10-12k, hopefully.
Weddings in California are insanely expensive, so it's been hard finding things in reason...
Well, I was hoping to be around $20k...maybe $25k. We got the guest list from FI's mom the other night and it has 30 more people than we anticipated. After politely asking to cut it back, we were able to to cut out dad's golfing buddy + guest so we are looking at easily another $5k in food/bar, cake, centerpieces, etc. for these unexpected family members that FI can't even recall...
I think realistically we'll be around $30k. NOT including rings and we are self-employed and too busy to even take a honeymoon.
We're paying for it all ourselves and I have to say I'm really over it. We should have eloped!
We have spent almost 5 years on planning this wedding - which has really been a blessing as we have had the time to plan ahead and research and really dig for the best deals, as well as complete DIY tasks that are much grander than I would have been able to orchestrate if we had a year or less to plan. Our budget - from the marriage certificate to our thank-you cards is approx. $3,500. That's for roughly a 100 guest ceremony and light dinner in the Seattle area. (Honeymoon is a gift from family, not included in this total) GO ME!
Shopping and planning is a sport to me - I ALWAYS win by finding the best bargains!
Wedding (my parents paying) will end up being around $75K. Rings and honeymoon (FI and me are paying) will be around $20K.
I put down 3-5K, not including rings or HM. I am very... frugal, would be the nice way to put it. The only thing I have really gotten, no matter what the cost was, is the ceremony site. I have wanted to get married in this church/museum since I was in 4th grade. Everything else, will just be dealt with around that.
We are paying for our own wedding. I was hoping to keep it to $5,000 or less; however, it is now right at budget, and I still have to book the caterer, cake and photograher, do the invites, other stationery, and favors.
Even with discounts, it is way more expensive than I thought it would be, but it will be a memory to last a lifetime, so it will be totally worth it.
