Ugh, I hate eBay! I get so caught up and emotionally attached to an item in an auction, and end up bidding higher than I wanted to.
Anyways, I just won this ring, they have very few details on it so I thought I’d take a risk on it for a “steal”..then at the end someone outbid me and I went a teeny bit higher than I wanted to.
I feel like it’s still a sweet deal, I’ve been wanting a yellow gold solitaire for a while (got one a few months ago that I returned, the setting was ridiculously tall) so I thought this would work well.
So, the stats they gave are 0.25 carat diamond, 14K yellow gold, 1.6grams. It is a second hand item, sold by a pawn shop. They describe the diamond and bright with some small inclusions.
So, based on the pics and vague details, what would you have bid (assuming you were in the market for a small yellow gold solitaire)? Obviously, I can’t do anything about it now..I’m just hoping to get an idea of if I got a good price or not.
Here are some massive pics..

@mrsmay07: Love how dainty and delicate this ring is! Of course it would depend on the specs of the diamond, so say it was what I was looking for, probably $200. (Because of the fact it’s second hand)
Congrats on winning the bid 🙂

@mrsmay07: Oh boy that’s a tough one. It’s hard to say without examining the ring up close. Did the seller mention any scratches, nicks, or inclusions? Those pics certainly seem to be taken at then most flattering angles.

@Aquaria: They say the diamond is bright with some small inclusons, they don’t say anything about any scrates or damage.

Well gold bands run about 100-125 itself and diamons about 0.5cts can go for 85 bucks depending on the condition of the stone, factoring the ebay/pawn shop discount. I would put my max bid at 200-225 if that was my kinda style

@mrsmay07: id pay up to 350 or so? Its really pretty!!

I voted $200-$225 because that is my best guesstimate! I have no idea though. How much did you end up paying? It is a really cute ring! I actually really like that setting a lot.
I hate bidding on ebay for that EXACT reason! I always select the “Buy it Now” option before I even start browsing! Then there is no temptation!

200 max. I bought a 0.25ct solitaire new for 200 (albeit 9ct gold not 14ct) so wouldn’t pay much more than that.
Lovely ring though!

Second hand, no more than $175. The gold weight is very, very light, so not much value there.
Having said that, it looks a sweet little ring, and I have no doubt it will be lovely when it arrives.

Two hundred or so, possibly $300.
How much did you pay? I’m curious!
Even if you think you paid $50 or $100 more than technically it’s worth, you still got a nice little ring!

So what did you pay for it?

What’d you pay for it? And are you going to get it polished?

$250…BEAUTIFUL stone. Maybe $200 due to the lack of certification and specs. Ring may be hollow at 1.9g.
