Hi girls! Looking for shoes has been a daunting process. My dress has a grey/purple sash, and I want to try and match the colour of the shoes as closely as possible to the colour of the sash. In a year (!!) of looking I’ve found very little. I don’t like crystals, bling, ect, I just want simple, perfect shoes.
To me, they are perfect. They are Salvatore Ferregamo. They are expensive as shit.
I spent only about 1/4 of the budget I’d set myself on my dress, so I’ve got money to spare, but I’m having a hard time rationalising spending the money.
How much would you spend on the perfect wedding shoes? How much would you spend on those? They are suede, FYI. Should I do it???

Shoes are more realistic to spend on cause you could wear ’em long after the wedding. So go for it!

If you have the money left over, do it! They’re really beautiful and you could TOTALLY wear those after the wedding!

- Wedding: June 2011 - Sydney, Australia
I’m a bargain hunter so I am the wrong person to ask about money spending – BUT if you realistically will wear them again after the wedding & if you’ve got the money to spend, then go for it!
Now because I’m nosy… how much are they up for?

I’d say yes. I spent a LOT on my shoes and do not regret it.
I cannot wait to wear them again.
I think as long as they are shoes you will wear again and you have the money, go for it.
You can think about your wedding every time you wear them.

They are……..(i’m cringeing writing this)…..$725 AUD. It would be the next single most expensive piece of attire i own, after my wedding dress.
They are really comfy, and i absolutely could wear them after – especially since i’m getting my friend to shorten my dress & dye it charcoal after i wear it.
You girls are bringing me around.
ETA – @KatNYC – congrats on the wedding lady!!!!! WHen do you move to the UK?

I’m a terrible example for shoes. I have a ton and spend alot. But I think suede grey platformed peep-toe pumps are pretty common. I have a pair and paid about $40 for them. So I think you could hold out for something similar but if you feel like you should reward yourself, why not?

Mine were 20 pounds on eBay so I got lucky and am not much help here. I’d have a hard time rationalizing the money as well. Will anyone be able to see the shoes? That would weigh in the decision for me. If I had a dress that showed off more leg, I’d be spending more on shoes! One of my friends wore chuck taylors for her wedding under her dress!

Whoa. I could maybe justify up to $350 tops for shoes, and that would take a LONG time to convince myself to do. No way I could spend $725 on a single pair to step on all day. I mean sure, you can get a lot of use out of it, but once the tiny heel is worn, then its time to put more money into fix it?? Now if heels are made of steel and never wore down, I’d consider splurging on shoes more.

@ScarletBegonia: Thanks! I’m in the UK now. Flew over on the red-eye friday night. About to head out to the grocery store to figure out what to make the hubby for dinner (since I don’t have a job yet).
Also, my shoes were about $600 USD. A LOT of money, but I love them.

I have two pairs: a pair of Gina’s for the day, and a pair of Jimmy Choo’s for the evening. In total, they cost about £620 (980 AUD) (and that was only because we got a fab deal on the Gina’s; they nearly ended up costing about £800).
I don’t really want to spend more than about £800 on my dress, so proportionately, my shoes will have cost a lot. The reason I’ve spent so much is that I will wear both pairs again, a lot. Whereas I will wear my dress once.
I’ve always had a big thing for shoes; I got my first pair of Choos at just 15 lol, and I now have a reasonable designer collection. It sounds snobby, but high-street shoes have never been an option for my wedding day; I always planned on having beautiful designer shoes.
So I’m biased, but I’d go for it!

I’ll spend money on shoes (my limit for wedding shoes would probably be about $1,000 if they were once-in-a-lifetime special). These honestly look like Nine West shoes I tried on yesterday for $60.00
I would not spend that much on gray suede pumps. They look more office than wedding… just my humble opinion of course.

@KatNYC2011: So exciting!!! I hope you are enjoying it. When can we expect your recaps?
What type of shoes did you have?

@KatyElle: My thoughts exactly. If they were crazy-over-the-top awesome, I’d spend more…but these are a pretty common style.

@ScarletBegonia: Photog said 2 weeks. So I’m hoping by end of this week/early next week I will be blogged.
I had this lovely pair of Oscar de la Renta’s:
