I don't know how common this is (I would imagine not very), but it did happen to a friend of mine... She did not find out it was a boy until she developed a complication and needed another u/s at 36 weeks.
I had a friend that this happened to. She thought for 2 weeks she was having a girl then found out it was actually a boy.
Yeah I just have doubts because it's still pretty early. About how many weeks do people usually find out where its accurate??
@aajune2011: I think 20 is the standard for accuracy. If they say boy, I think it's pretty certain that it's a boy. With a girl it all just depends on getting a good look. I want to reiterate, though - I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just remember, we're not the exception, we're the rule.
Standard is 20 weeks. For girls they actually look for the labia folds, not just whether there's a penis or not. And trust me - it's very easy to tell lol! If you saw the 3 distinct lines you're pretty safe. Have fun! DD was so fun to shop for :)
We waited till week 20 and a half to go for the gender scan, we were told it is a girl. I still had doubts till week 35 when we had another ultrasound to check the size of the baby, because i was worried she might be bigger, it ends up she is a girl. If i were you, i would wait till week 20 to go for the gender scan.

I am barely 16 weeks, and went to the doctor for a regular checkup today. I got to see the baby (not an official gender scan) and the nurse said it looks like a girl! The 3 parallel lines were clearly visible. I am very excited and can't wait to shop for baby girl stuff. We go back in 2 weeks for an official gender scan. How likely is it that my baby girl could be a baby boy? Has this happened to anyone?
