- Wedding: Disneyland - January 2016
Pretty simple question, after you bought the shoes you wanted to wear to your ceremony/reception, how often did you wear them beforehand? I’m sure there’s a certain amount to break them in and whatnot, but what about anything extra?
I recently purchased a pair of silver flats I’m fairly sure I’ll love to wear to both my ceremony/reception, but I really really want to wear them to a trip my SO and I will be taking to Disneyland in October (where he’s hinting he’s going to officially propose!!). However, I’m afraid of ruining them since the actual wedding is still a little over a year away and the shop I bought them from sold out immedietaly after I bought my pair. Do you guys think I’m being overly paranoid and they’ll be fine? Or should I search around and try to find a new pair (which is more difficult than it sounds since I actually HATE flats and it took quite some searching around just to find these).

TwinkleBoss: I only wore my shoes inside our condo a few times. I don’t buy shoes that need to be broken in. I only buy shoes that are comfortable when I buy them.
I wouldn’t wear my wedding shoes on a trip. They are likely to get scuffed up and it will show in pics.

If you really love your shoes and want them to be perfect, I wouldn’t bring them on the trip – that’s a big risk! I wore my shoes around our apartment and at my dress fittings, but that’s it. That being said, the dress was hemmed based on my shoes and I never sat down where people could see my feet (when I did, I was behind a table), so no one actually saw my shoes. If you aren’t sitting down during your ceremony or getting any of those shoe photos, it might not matter.

TwinkleBoss: i wore my shoes to a wedding the month before mine and then to a charity concert at our local symphony 2 weeks before the wedding.

TwinkleBoss: I wear mine pretty much every time I’m home alone but I wouldn’t wear them outside partly in case they get ruined and partly because my FI wants my entire outfit to be a surprise

I’ve worn mine a ton, I wanted to make sure I would be able to go in them all day. I wore them to a party last Christmas, and then out to dinner a few times, and then to my bridal portraits where I tromped all over. I have no desire for my photographer to be snapping pictures of my shoes sitting on a table somewhere (no thanks, pics of people please) so the fact that they have been worn isn’t an issue. And now I know they don’t give me any trouble.

I wouldn’t! If you can’t get another pair? I wouldn’t risk it, personally.
