    And do they like baths?

We wash our dog about 2 a week because he always gets himself dirty when he runs around outside and the vet recommended washing him a few times a week with oatmeal shampoo to help with his dry skin. He suprisingly loves baths, he even jumps into the bathtub eagerly waiting to get washed.

    What about you?

Once a month.  Their skin gets too dry if we wash them too often, so our vet said once a month with J&J baby shampoo.  Ours loves it too.  If we take them to the lake they do get a bath when they get home, the lake is gross fishy smelling water and I can't stand the smell.  Funny side note:  I had a cat that loved baths, she would try to even get in the bath with me and try to get in the sink when I was brushing my teeth.

Once a week. I can't stand stinky dogs. My dog is a lap dog too so she's up in people's faces a lot more than normal dogs.

I bathe my dog about every other week, so about twice a month.

Jackson only gets a bath maybe every 6 months.  He has self cleaning fur and doesn't have that dog odor, so no baths needed!  He doesn't really like the baths, but he'll jump in the tub if you tell him to.

Every two weeks it seems.  She's stinky again so I need to bathe her, but first I need a hair dryer.  She hates baths, but loves biting at the heated air.  I love it.

We've had him about 8 weeks and bathed him twice.  So once a month so far.  I wasnt sure if you could bathe him more cause I read it could dry out his skin.

@pinkshoes  I think you can tell if it irritates their skin. It would look more flaky. I think you should go by whenever the dog starts getting that "doggy smell". ick

Our beagles are very clean. They walk around mud puddles at the park! They only get baths if they roll in something. They've had maybe one bath in the last year? They don't smell either!

My furbaby is usually clean, I strive for once a month bath.

He tolerates it, but is not a fan of a bath by any means.

My dog isn't keen on having a bath so he only gets washed three or four times a year which is usually when he gets stinky.

I have to tie Chopper up to wash him and when I let him off his lead he goes absolutely crazy and runs and rolls around like a mad thing!    I reckon he's trying to get his doggy smell back again...

About once a month with oatmeal shampoo. She has dry skin and allergy issues so we really try no more than once a month. Usually we think she smells before our friends who are over all the time and not dog owners think so.

She does not like baths but will tolerate it. Usually afte a bah she'll run circles around the house like a mad dog! Hahha

Once a month. It's a challenge getting them bathed. They hate sitting still so it takes the both of us to get it done. One of our dogs has really long hair and likes to dig in the dirt/mud at my parents' house when we visit so she usually gets one shortly after that. Esepecially since they sleep in our bed and our mostly indoor dogs.

We only wash her when she gets really muddy, maybe once every 3-4 months?  And even then its usually just her legs and undercarriage.  She sheds so much fur, shes usually pretty clean.  I can always tell if there is "dog" smell and our house doesn't smell so less baths for her!  She HATES getting in the tub!

Every 3 weeks or so.. maybe once a month? Mostly cause she's got a beard that starts to get messy. I like it when it's clean and fluffy.

Once a month, or if we are going to visit family/they are coming here. He has dry skin so if we wash too much he itches a lot.

My show-dog gets bathed about once a month, more often if we're going to shows.

My other 2 dogs get bathed about every 2-3 months.

    All are long-haired dogs (2 papillons, 1 pomeranian-mix)

No real time frame, just whenever they seem to need it. Generally every few months for my beagle/chi mix, but my little mini doxie has extremely fine hair and sensitive skin, and a bald chest... :) So to keep him clean and prevent skin infections from grass, etc rubbing all over him on walks, he gets one every few weeks with a hypoallergenic shampoo.

No set time frame.. whenever he smells like he needs one! In summer months it's more often just b/c he gets dirtier (he discovered he likes to play in mud in July!). In colder months, at most its every other week... probably more like 1 time a month.

I have papillons and the vet told me not to bathe then more than once a month cause it would dry their skin out but they are indoor dogs so I end up bathing them 2 times a month at least cause i hate when they stink. As for Fi dog who I just posted about in another thread ( She's like Cujo) like to roll in poo so she gets bathed everytime she does so. ugh that dog.

When my paps get dry skin I give them fish oil supplements to eat. works like a charm.

One thing to help with "dog stink" is changing their food to a higher quality holistic kibble or even a raw diet.

only when our sheltie gets really smelly or really dirty, like every couple months (he's a city dog, so isn't running around off leash much). like, I bathed him in our old apt in april before we moved out, and then bathed him for the first time in our new apt in august. he really hates it, but is usually pretty passive about it. I've been using the same bottle of j and j's baby shampoo for the 3.5 years we've had him, so he doesn't get many baths at all!

Every couple months when he gets really stinky.  He is a completely indoor lap dog (cept to go to the front yard to go to the bathroom).  I DO, however, wash his face at least once a week to get rid of some of his eye goo.  It's gross and pretty much the stinkiest part of him.

@futuremrsmaista: Ah the eye goo. I clean my pooch's everyday, she's teething right now so they are pretty bad some days. Luckily we are starting to get a little better, I'm looking forward to this not being a daily thing! Oh and I've learned a trick.. baby wipes work amaxing for cleaning this. I don't know if there's something in them but it works amazing. I just use the unscented ones (for real babies, not pet wipes).

Only every few months (about 3 months). I think too many baths are not good for dogs hair and skin.

Our vet said our dog only needs a bath 4-5 times a year. He's got a very short coat and I think he is part vizsla because he grooms himself and doesn't have the typical dog smell.

A week or two ago he had a stomach issue and made a big mess in his crate one day so we had to bathe him. He HATED it, cried and wined the whole time. He's 60 pounds ard really strong so he managed to hop out of the bath a few times. I washed him myself while FI was cleaning the cage. The bathroom was a mess and I was completely soaked. It's funny now, but sucked when we were doing it.

About twice a month. He's a Bichon Frise and has white, curly hair. Without frequent grooming, he would look like a mess!

Probably only 4 - 5 times a year. Which is not often enough. He's a big dog, and he is stinky! He needs a bath right now infact. Maybe on the to-do list tonight.

I'd say every 1-3 weeks. She's small, so I actually just take her in the shower with me. She's not a fan of the shower, but she does love the blow dryer. She actually jumps onto my lap every morning when I sit down to blow dry my hair.

My boy gets a bath about once every month or two, or if he gets dirty/stinky before then, (but he usually doesn't, 'cause he's usually pretty good about staying clean).  It's getting to be about that time again.  He LOVES baths, though.  I take off his collar to "make him naked" and he hops right into the tub.  And he really loves to be brushed.

Our malamute gets a bath probably once or twice a year (more when he was a puppy and constantly making messes!).  He is an indoor dog though, and he gets brushed every day.  He doesn't ever really smell (expect if we have to take him to a kennel when we are on vacation...then he gets a bath because he smells like a farm!).  We use this spray-on stuff for grooming him (kind of a "dry" shampoo) that makes him smell pretty.  He is a PAIN AND A HALF to get into a bathtub though!  He is HUGE, everything gets soaked, and he is so fluffy that his coat is wet for hours and hours (even with blowdrying!).

I have a lab and they don't need to be bathed regularly just properly groomed to stay clean. So he gets brushed out weekly to collect all the dirt and dead hair.

We have had him for just under a year and he has been bathed 3 times from turning himself into a muddy disaster this fall, and I mean head to toe mud! He hates the bath which is funny because he definitely loves the water, even if it is a muddy puddle!

My dog gets a bath probably once every 4-6 weeks. She doesn't have a dog smell typically but she rolls around in dirt and digs and such so she gets pretty dirty, also she hair hair not fur and it is semi prome to matting so we have to make sure we keep her hair brushed and clean. Between baths we use waterless shampoo and it is awesome, it keeps her smelling fresh and allows me to not have to deal with giving her a bath since she hates it so much!

Once or twice a month he gets his hair on his face trimmed, his eye boggies cleaned out, and his hair scrubbed. He is not the biggest fan of baths, but I talk to him the whole time and he calms down. He doesn't really get 'dirty', just stinky.

Every other week in the warm months, a little less often when it's cold.  Warm weather baths are done after a nice, long swim in the lake at our dog park.
