I’m copping a bit of teasing from my friends because whenever they ‘pop in’ my house is generally spotless. I don’t classify myself as a clean freak, but I generally don’t like clutter. I clean my house every Friday afternoon after work so I can spend the weekend relaxing. All floors are vacuumed/mopped/surfaces wiped down/toilets scrubbed/bathroom scrubbed. It generally takes 1.5 hours.
I tend to be a bit lazy with dishes, but they are generally done within 1 day.
How often do you clean? (the ‘I’ in the poll can also be used for your partner/whoever does clean your house) 🙂

I consider myself a neat freak in the way that I keep things picked up. I can’t stand it when there’s stuff all over my desk, the kitchen table, the coffee table, the counter, etc etc. so I try my hardest to pick up and put away whatever me and my husband leave around the house day-to-day.
I am more lax in terms of “dirt cleaning” – I Lysol-clean the kitchen about once per week, and the bathroom mirrors/counters every two weeks probably. The shower and toilets are lucky to get once a month scrubs out of me. Obviously if there is visible dirt or mildew, I try to knock it out quickly, but usually the constant flow of water keeps things rinsed and moderately clean. I hate vacuuming, so that happens every couple months. I need to work on upping that frequency, with all the pet hair. I just hate hauling the vacuum up and down stairs, and dealing with the cord getting wrapped around furniture because of odd room layouts.

@theone99: I obsessed with a clean house. I vacuum everyday and mop every second day. I do a load of washing and ironing everyday. I have to keep on top of it. I take a lot of pride in my home.

I have a T-shirt that says – A clean house is sure sign of a bored woman.
But really, as long as there is no need to call the board of health, it’s no big deal IMO. Besides, if it wasn’t for guests, I would never clean. I have been on the planet for almost 50 years and have maybe cleaned an oven twice (food burns off eventually) and a fridge maybe 3X (usually whoever I am living with will do it, eventually). I have gone over a year before dusting. But my kitchen is pretty clean (except maybe the oven and fridge) and the litter boxes are scooped 2X/day.
I have never believed that housekeeping was my sole responsibility simply because I was born with an uterus. If whoever doesn’t like how my house looks, they are more than welcomed to clean it.

I should certainly clean up more often. Right now I generally only clean up on Sundays. Both the SO & I work 60 hour work weeks and Its just hard to come home from a 12 hour day and do dishes or mop. I get home, walk the dogs, make dinner, take a shower, and then its literally time to just go to bed so I can do it all over again. . .

I used to be a total neat freak and then i got a life:-) Now I have cleaners who clean for me once a week, but I still have some clutter that has no home. One of these days…

We are clutter free and mess free and dishes are a MUST. Definitely a bit of a clean sob here though. The house is always clean. I literally pick up everything twice a day, washes dishes three times a day (dirty dishes laying around really bugs me) The only thing I don’t clean every day is the bathroom, its a once a week thing, but I do tend to tidy it relentlessly.
Sometimes it drives me bonkers because there is ALWAYS something to clean but I must admit, it is a bit therapeutic for me so I suppose that’s a blessing!

I do a big clean on my day off once a week. Then I clean as needed every day but only for a little while. I cook and H2B does the dishes after dinner.

I’m hopeless at cleaning anything. I just get distracted and can think of better things to do. Im working on getting better.

I clean once a week, but it takes me about 4 hours to clean my house from top to bottom. Sometimes during the week ill leave the dishes in the sink for a day or two. And there’s always laundry that needs doing. I just cleaned today and there’s already some messes, with a 7 year old and a great big dog it’s hard to avoid. I’m not a clean freak, I just try to keep the dust bunnies to a minimum and make sure everything gets a good scrub down once a week (once every two weeks if I’m too busy).

I clean sporadically. My house isn’t dirty, there aren’t bugs galore or black mold, but I really just have to be in the mood to clean. It doesn’t help either that even when I do clean, my husband will mess it back up within an hour.
I do try to pick up once a week, but the only time I do heavy duty cleaning such as washing the floors, even touching the bathroom, is when I know that company is coming over. But you’d be surprised how quickly the house spruces up when I get a phone call that someone will be over in 15 mintues =)

I try to do basic cleanup and pickup as we go – we both tend to be a bit messy, so sometimes shoes will be scattered and clothes don’t always make it to the hamper. Dishes never stay dirty for more than a day, but the kitchen isn’t always 100% spotless.
Fortunately, we have a cleaning service that comes every 2 weeks so the bathroom and other heavy stuff isn’t our responsibility 😀 That’s such a relief – I’m terrible at that stuff!

I like this topic, its bedtime for me – will come back later. So interesting!

How often do I clean my house? eh, once or twice a year, maybe.
How often does my house get cleaned? Weekly, by the maid.
There were no poll options to reflect this accurately.

@distracts: In the first post I wrote that ‘I’ could mean spouse/cleaner etc 🙂
