I recently got engaged and I was wondering how often people clean their rings themselves?

I probably clean mine with really hot water and diluted soap once a week or so.  I've had it cleaned twice when I was a the jewelry store picking out and picking up wedding rings.

In the beginning it was weekly but as time wore on the newness wore off and I forget about it needing to be cleaned.  I've become more of a every few months kind of girl.

Weekly - when I notice it shining less attractively or when we've got a party to go to, I always spiff it up.

I used to clean it weekly, but now its more like monthly. Though I REALLY love to get a jeweler to clean it because then its SOOOOOO shiny!! :)

I clean it every few weeks or so - a baby toothbrush and some liquid dish soap work like a charm!

About once a month or so I put it in the jewelry cleaner they gave me.  About every 6 months I take it to the jewelry store to get all shiny and pretty again.  Otherwise, I wear it in the shower and when I wash my hands and that seems to make it sparkle right after I do those things.

I didn't clean it at all for the first six months... then I finally got a jewelry cleaner (the store is on the other side of LA from where I live, so it's not very easy to go down and have them clean it!) and soak/scrub once a month.

There was no option for 'daily' so I voted 'weekly'. I try to clean it every day or every other - it takes less than a minute.

I try to clean it every other day or at least once a week. I use a jewelry cleaner I've used for years that I buy at Target and every once in a while put it in a small amount of ammonia and warm water.

I've been wearing mine for 6 months and still haven't cleaned it.  I wear it in the shower every morning, so maybe that helps, but I don't feel like it's lost any of its sparkle.

I scrub it about once/week with a baby toothbrush and dish soap.  I can really see a difference after I do it.  I think it gets coated with soap scum from hand washing during the week and it is less shiny.

Diamonds naturally are attracted to oil and grease, so I clean mine everyday!  Actually, before I went to get my ring appraised, I wasn't sure how to clean it... when the appraiser returned the ring to me, I was SO amazed - it was shiny and gorgeous! I fell in love with my ring all over again.  I asked him what the best way to clean a ring was.  Believe it or not, he said Mr. Clean. **100% PLATINUM & DIAMOND RINGS ONLY** Mr. Clean can damage other rocks/metals**  I put my ring in a little capful of Mr. Clean for a minute or so and then rinse with warm water.  This is something I do every few weeks.  But normally, I just use a little tooth brush and gently brush the ring under hot running water.

I don't clean mine, but I'll go in a couple times a week to have the jeweler do it now that there's one next door! No worries...it's the same one we got the ring from! lol.

Ooooh Marylee your ring is gorgeous!

I was given a talk recently by T who informed me that "should I find myself getting some certain piece of jewelry" that I was to take it only to the jeweller to have it cleaned as he was scared for me to take it anywhere else but where he gets it from. T is so wacky!!!!Tongue out

As for me, I'd be down w/Mr. Clean if it could keep it that sparkly!

Let's just hope it's soon that I have to figure out this dilemma!  :)

Martha said in her latest issue that one of the best cleaners was a little bit of vodka and water and I tell you, my ring has never stayed sparkly for so long!
