Oh my god I'm going to sound totally insane. I cry at least once a week. All different things make me cry. A lot of times it's a sad story on NPR (dork alert)

Are we talking a serious cry or just tearing up at a sad movie? If the former then probably 6 times a year or less.

I cry pathetic tears related to hormones like when TLC has baby story on or anything really sappy or sad all the time.

Like tears that I have been hurt physically or emotionally?- not frequent enough to keep track!

I cried during movies or plays. As in normal day life, it rarely happens. Get pissed off more often than cry. FI calls me a rage nut sometimes.

I'm in the process of switching BC pills so I've been crazy hormonal and can cry at the drop of a hat. Yeah... like mwitter80, once a week or so.

I usually have a crazy hormonal cry fit the day before my period every month. Nothing I can really do to stop it! I'm like a nut job, LOL!

Currently about twice a month, I'd say. I'm going through some health issues and the pain and frustration just get to me every once in a while.

While wedding planning it was about once a week, lol. Before wedding planning + illness, it was maybe once every couple of months.

I am also confused as to what type of crying you are referring to. If it is a few tears because I see or read something that is sappy, it is almost daily. If you are talking crying because of being truly upset it is rare, maybe a few times a year. However, when I was suffering from depression it was multiple times daily. Any little thing could set me off.

Once every couple of days.  But most of the times is just for something super dumb like a TV commerical for Surprise Homecoming (FI is currently deployed)  and it isn't a full on bawl.

Full on bawl? probably more than average I guess.  Sometimes I get pretty blue and since FI deployed I have been more so.

@Oneeleven: My dad was deployed for two years when I was in high school. Those damn commercials always get to me. I tried watching the show once and I couldn't stop tearing up, it was like a flood of memories coming back. Damn TLC!

I cry allll the time. Not huge cries, but I definitely get teary-eyed at least 3 times/week. Usually by myself, and usually about something inconsequential in the grand scheme of things!

When I asked the question, I meant all levels. The "inconsequential" crying, and the "full on bawl" as another bee said.

Uhh... rarely.  Sometimes if I'm absolutely furious, but typically it has to be something pretty intensely sad.  I'd say the last time was a year ago or so?

Well I tear up daily - whether that be happy tears or sad tears I dunno!

Right now I am crying my way through the finale of SYTYCD - you know people getting kicked off, emotional dances etc.

Full out tears running down my face, probably weekly!!!

What can I say I am not a crier!

However I must add there was one day when i surprisingly didn't cry... My Wedding Day!!!! I just couldn't stop smiling!

    @CookieBee: me too!

I'm dealing with some pretty big life changes right now, so I've been extra emotional. This summer I have averaged 3-4 cries a week. When life is "normal" I cry maybe once a month.

Probably a 2-3 times a week on average. It depends on what's going on in my life. Sometimes it's just a few tears because a song reminded me of something sad in my life and sometimes it's an hour-long crying fit. (Yea I have issues lol.)

ALL the time. Seriously ALL. THE. TIME.

I tear up in class whenever we're learning about something sad/touching/inspirational (I'm studying to become an elementary teacher). I cry when I'm watching tv, especially those baby shows, or phone commercials... you know that new one about the girl who has moved away to college and her mom calls on skype? That one gets me every time...

Also i've cried twice this week because i've been frustrated/angry about not getting my student loan yet. I cry when I'm frustrated. AND i cry when I'm nervous, which is TERRIBLE for interviews.... Thats probably the worst thing about being a crier.

when it comes to personal issues or emotions, i only cry maybe 2-3 times a year.  i'm not a big cryer when it comes to myself.  but it does happen a few times a year maybe, i'll break down and have a big ol pity party cry and just let it all out.  usually i'm PMSing and going through something at the time and had a few glasses of wine lol

but i do cry once in a while when i watch those tv shows with people losing weight and struggling to lose weight.  even my husband gets choked up:)

@tall_jenny: I cry when I'm really nervous too. I think I'm okay with interviews because I can convince myself to exude confidence. I cried in Ulta one time because this sales woman put me on the spot and started doing my makeup in the middle of the store. She didn't even bring me to one of their stations and people were staring. She wouldn't take no for an answer and just started applying it. I was so nervous, embarassed and upset that I just started crying. Not bawling, but definitely tears running down my face. Luckily another sales girl intervened and I managed to leave with my dignity intact.

@Oneeleven: Yeah, that was no good. He came home safely, though, so alls well that ends well. If I can offer any advice, stay positive and pray. dwelling on things isn't going to keep him any safer and you'll just stress yourself out.

    @Kemma: OMG I did too!

I cry quite a bit - happy/sad tears at some commercial or TLC show. Watching father/daughter dance videos on youtube turn me into a complete bawling mess, Every Single Time! And I get craaaaazy hormomal within a few days before my period, and it's the only release. FH thinks I'm a nutjob haha!

@Aure: WHAT?  That's crazy, you can't cry over stuff like that.  Put those annoying sales women in check and say sternly, "I said no thank you.  Now you've just lost any potential business you might have had from me".

Screw those chicks, not worth one tear.

I will admit that about 4 years ago, I used to cry a lot because of a miserable job I was at and working for this asshole who treated everyone like crap.  Finally one day he picked the wrong day to start bullying me and I completely flipped on him in front of the whole office.  I called him a piece of shit and told him to go fuck himself and pay someone else to listen to his bullshit every day.  LOL  he actually has contacted me since then begging me to go work for him again and we're pretty much cool with each other now.  I think I was probably the first woman in his life to ever rip him a new asshole like that and now he totally respects me for it.  haha weirdo..

I am definitely a crier. And I must say that I hate it! I'm such an emotional person, so I cry when I'm very happy, sad, angry, overwelmed, tired/run down, PMS, scared...so basically any reason. Probably 1-2 times a week I cry, but if it is a bad day, I can easily cry for a few hours straight. I hate it.

Any tips from anybody on how to keep emotions more in check? I would love to try to change this. Not sure if it is possible or not, though, as I've always been like this. My husband gets so frustrated and can't understand why I cry so much when I do start crying.

I'm jealous of all of you who don't cry much! :)

I cry when I get nervous, or if I think I'm going to have to have "a talk" (confrontation) with someone, I'll pump myself up and tell myself not to cry, it's just a conversation. I'll start off really good, and then as soon as words start coming out of my mouth, my eyes well up with tears and I cry.

ex. I rear ended a girl once, it really wasn't either of our fault, the sun was in both our eyes and she noticed a pedestrian last minute, slammed on her breaks in the middle of the intersection turning left, and so i slammed on mine, but barely bumped her bumper. we pulled over. and in my head I was really calm, just thinking oh fuck, this sucks. and then as soon as I got out, she asked ME if I was ok, and I started BAWLING. hahaha... I should've asked her if SHE was ok, seeing as how I was the one who hit her. She then realized how upset I was and tried to make me feel better by saying "it's ok, there's so many scratches on my car already, I can't even tell if there's any damage" and me, being the stupid girl I am, was like "*sob* no, *sob* I can see some *sobs* scratches right *sob* there and *sob* there and *sob there*" she laughed and said "please stop crying, it's ok! really! I dont' even care!" LOL.

    Anyway, I'm a crier.

OMG - this is totally me.  DH gets so frustrated because he doesn't understand why I cry so much and he doesn't know how to help.

Lately I've been dealing with anxiety and mild depression and have been crying from being truely upset at least 3-4 times a week.  I've been on Lexapro for about a month now though and its dropped that down to once every week or too.

But put me in front of a TV show/movie/song/commercial/book, etc and they'll still get to me.

@nontraditionalmiami: I'm generally too nice/quiet to make a scene. "No thank you" should do the trick. I said it multiple times and she just flat out didn't listen. I was mortified. I'm easily embarassed when put on the spot. I really don't need someone announcing to the store how dark my undereye circles are while applying concealer like spackle. She made a comment about my cheeks getting red calling more attention to my embarassment and I just couldn't hold back the tears. I'm actually getting really upset thinking about it. I have a love/hate relationship with both Ulta and Sephora because of that. I go in to buy a lipstick and I get mobbed.

I could cry 3-5 times a week depending on what's going on!  I cry over stories on the news about animal abuse, I cried when my friend told me her mom found out her BF was "brown" and was pissed about it, I cry at most movies (including Disney).  Life in general doesn't make me cry though ie: FI, stress, etc.

Um, I get a little teary at a touching news story or movie or something occassionally... like maybe once a month or once every other month? I'd say I almost never cry alone.... like once/year? Other than that I mostly just end up crying when my husband and I have a fight. Like maybe once every 3-4 months?

@Mrs.KMM: So sorry you have had to deal with anxiety and mild depression, but it sounds like the medicine is helping. That's great! Yes, my husband (he really is a sweet, caring guy!!) will say, "Why are you crying?" Sometimes I have no "reason" so I'll tell him that and he just can't grasp the concept that I am crying for no reason at all. The typical guy that he is, he wants to fix things and he is so frustrated that I cry and just wants me to stop. Sometimes, by him just saying, "Why are you crying?" I'll start crying harder! That really confuses him. LOL

@Jenn23: Thanks!  The medication has been wonderful.  I definitely feel much more like myself now.

DH is such a fixer and hates seeing me upset and it drives him crazy when he feels like he can't do anything about it.  It sounds like our guys are quite similar.
