I went a for a long stretch of time without really eating out much other than pizza here and there. But my job is near a bunch of interesting restaurants and I found myself slowly but surely getting into the habit of blowing money on lunch several times a week. Ugh! When I looked at my budget the other day I realized how much money I could be saving by not eating out…and can I just say it was a LOT of money! I’m on a challenge to keep those greenbacks in my possession and eat home cooking more often. Plus we’re on a company-wide fitness challenge here at work. I got this! Lol, how often do you eat away from home/fast food/takeout?

Probably ~2-3 times a week.
DH and his family are really big on trying new and interesting restaurants so we do go sit down places with some frequency. We don’t do fast food much but will occasionally get some Chipotle or Jersey Mike’s.

@Galang_Gyal: Usually 3 times a week. I’m hardly ever home and when I am I eat lean cusine, or other small meals. But eating out gives me left overs for lunch dinner. I know it’s terrible but I can’t help it 🙁

about once a week, but when i lived in a bigger city with a bigger food scene, about 3 times a week

It depends…we could do once a week, or up to 4 times…depending on what we’re doing and how much ‘extra’ money we have. I would eat out every day if I could…I have always preferred resaurant food to homecooked…plus I don’t have to cook or clean up! Some girls like to shop…I like to eat! We’ve been cutting back on going out lately, though. Good for the bank account…bad for my taste buds!

When I lived with my parents, I ate out VERY often – UP to 5 times a week.
Now FI and I have our own kitchen, so we cook 5-6 days a week. I insist on going out once a week though 🙂

1-2 times a week. I try to cook all meals at home and avoid fast food. We do like to frequent the local sushi place every now and then.

@Galang_Gyal: Probably 2 times a week or so. Almost every week night we eat a home cooked meal, we bring our lunches, so except for the rare occasion where I have to buy lunch (today) or on friday/saturday where we’d rather do something more fun than cook at home, we don’t eat out.

@Cady: I really wish my husband would eat sushi with me! I never get to have it unless a friend comes along, such a shame 🙂

Depends on the week. Some weeks we don’t eat out at all, then there’s this week where I can’t muster the energy to cook or care so we have just been playing it by ear with delivery or cereal lol.

2-4 times per week generally. We always go out to dinner on Saturday nights, and we will often (but not always) get take-out for Sunday lunch or dinner. During the week I try to limit myself to eating out/fast food no more than once for lunch, but occassionally it is twice. We set a budget for ourselves of $280/month for eating out. $200 for eating out together, and 40 each for lunches through the month.

@Galang_Gyal: My SO and I go to McDonald’s every Saturday as our weekly treat (we both love it but keep it in check for health reasons!) and get Vietnamese food every week as well. Sometimes we’ll do fancier places but that’s our usual weekly routine. When we’re on vacation we like to try out lots of new places.
We pack lunches most days as well. I eat out during the week for lunch probably once a week on average. I either go out with coworkers or treat myself to something semi-healthy normally.

@MsJ2theZ: Yeah, my husband was actually the one that got me into sushi. Before him all I ate was california rolls.
