I re-discovered how much I love my hair when it’s flat ironed – but, I’m leery of doing it every day – or even every other day – because of the heat and potential damage.
Although – I don’t bat an eye when I blow dry my hair every day….
So, hive – I ask you – how often do you flat iron your hair and/or do you do anything to minimize the damage from the heat.
I have naturally curly hair that I blow dry straight. The flat iron makes it soooo beautiful and silky smooth… I love it!

I flat iron my hair every 2-3 days, basically every time I wash my hair. I spray it with CHI heat protectant and use a high heat so I only have to make one or two passes.

I flat iron almost daily and I use a heat protectant (Redken?) before ironing my hair daily that has really helped my hair from damaging.

My hair is naturally very curly, and since I’ve been growing it out, I’ve noticed it’s easier in the mornings to just dry it halfway with the diffuser and let it dry the rest of the way on my way to work and let it go curly.
So I only straighten it on weekends, in the winter or when it’s cool and dry (sweating or raining just sends it right back curly so it’s wasted effort). I’ll usually blow it out on Day 1, flat iron on Days 2-4 (or however long I can go without it feeling gross- if I skip the gym, three days, if I go, 2). I do use a straightening balm with protectant in it, I think it’s a Pantene product and I really do like it.

If you want perfectly straight hair everyday I suggest getting a straight perm. They’re really popular here in Asia and can be found in Asian salons in North America. It’s damaging on your hair, yes, but you only have to do it once and your hair is stick-straight until it grows out.

I used to do it every single day all through high school but now my hair is so long I can only stand to do ione couple of times a week, if even that. But the best products I have found for hair care is R&B by lush and even just unrefined coconut oil. Seriously turned my damaged dry broken hair into silk. No one believes I don’t have extensions.

I used to do it everyday but I’ve gotten to where I can style my hair pretty decently without it. If you are concerned, use a heat protectant. I used one by suave professionals and I liked it. I also like the one by tresemme. When I did it daily, I’d usually just make sure to condition more often and give it a break every now and then when I wouldn’t be leaving the house that day

I have a Chi, and I flatiron a few times a month.

I used to every single day, for years.
Then I found some stuff to increase my curl and I’ve been keeping it natural. Much easier and people seem to like it.
I like it both ways, but definitely saves time to not straighten.

I straighten my hair every day with my CHI. I only wash my hair every other day though so usually on the second day it’s still pretty straight from straightening it the day before. I just have to go over a few pieces of hair to “fix” them. =)

Every day for me. My hair isn’t super curly after blowdrying, just kinda wavy/frizzy. I do a quick pass over my hair to make it sleek and I’m good to go. I don’t use any heat protectant products, and I use a Remington flat iron that I love (http://www.amazon.com/Remington-S9951-Humidity-Resistant-Hairstyling/dp/B002LIXTFC). My hair stylist always comments how healthy my hair looks.. so it must not be doing too much damage! I totally fried my hair with the Chi on full blast though… I could smell my hair burning. I think the key is to keep the heat moderate and not to stay on one piece for too long.

I voted “Other” — once every 3-6 months maybe?
My hair poofs at the slightest bit of humidity so I tend to go with “beachy waves” or find products that intensify the curl.

As long as you use a heat protectant keep your ends trimmed and use a good conditioner you will be fine. I only do mine about 3 times a week and I never have any problems except spilt ends which I trim ever other week anyway

I use a flat iron daily without any products. I just make certain to condition my hair frequently.
