The last time I went on a real vacation was 5 1/2 years ago! We went on a big trip following my HS graduation. Upon entering college I worked full time during breaks and in between semesters to offset costs and do my best o avoid loans. Upon entering grad school, I've had courses and clinic in addition to work. We typically go on mini-trips one or two weekends out of the month. These usually consist of going out of town to one of our parents or friends houses.
I'm looking forward to our honeymoon because it will will be my first real (not weekend length) trip in 6 years! Hopefully after graduation (this summer) I'll be able to begin taking regular vacations.
I have to vavcation at least once a year. The engagement until the wedding (17 mos) will be the longest wihtout a REAL vacation...we've done weekend trips, but nothing longer. I feel that work gives you vacation time for a reason, gotta use it!!
Not enough! We get out of town often but it is to visit family or to-do something, never just for R&R. We have been together for 5 1/2 years and have only been on one solo trip together (where we knew no one) and it was a business trip for him. The honeymoon will be our first REAL vacay alone together. I guess that is what happens when you LOVE your family and friends and they are ALL over the country. *Sigh*
We go on lots of vacations! Last year we took at least 5 or 6 trips. We usually go to dance weekends. Two of those were big, week-long trips (although one of those was our honeymoon) and the others were long-weekend trips. We have flex work schedules where every other weekend is a three-day weekend so that makes it much easier to plan.
Um, we are kind of addicted to traveling. In the last year I think we've taken 6 international trips. They are always short because we have limited vacation time (long weekends) but it is soooo worth it. I'm with you mrs.bee--you can learn so much!
I love to travel and so does my FH. We live in a boring state, and we find ourselves leaving every other weekend to keep sane. Since we're on a budget, we tend to take a lot of small daily trips around the area.
As often as we can! We both love experiencing new places with each other-- and try to do it as often as our budget can allow! To make our travel money last longer, we try to stay with people we know in various parts of the world for part of the vacation.
In fact, it was on our last BIG international trip in Switzerland that he proposed!
We try to take little weekend trips, and we travel a lot to visit family, but we don't get too many true "vacations" when it just the two of us on a trip. If only we had more vacation time (and more money!).
Unfortunately we can't really afford to travel. We've taken 1 actual vacation together over the past 5 years of us being together. We've been camping once and maybe 1 or 2 weekend getaways also... but that's it. It would be great if we could go on vacation once a year... hopefully we'll be able to afford some sort of honeymoon.. even if its only a weekend trip.
My FI and I have only gone on one big trip together so far, about two years ago, and we are hoping to do a big trip for our honeymoon so we are looking at every other year right now for big trips, besides 2 weeks at our parent's during christmas time every year. We do small weekend trips I'd twice a year? We are into traveling, I do big trips with my mom every other year too, but he doesn't have a lot of time to take vacations. He's part of a start up company, hopefully when things settle there we'll be doing a big trip each year.
Last year we did four vacations that required an airplane - that's how I define BIG trips. Aside from those, I would say we travel 35% of our weekends to visit friends in the Jersey Shore especially in the summer, Boston and Philly.
This year we'll do three BIG trips which includes a wedding in NAPA and another weekend in PR. And the BIG BIG trip will be the last one. Can't wait.
I haven't been in anywhere in...what seems like forever, but that is about to change. I haven't had the time nor the money. But after this year, I will have a lot more free time and I will definitely travel more. Gotta do it while I still can.
We rarely go anywhere, our honeymoon last september was our first big vacation together. We've done plenty of weekend trips to his hometown but that's about it. I think it's been about two years since I've gone anywhere besides that.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to go on a trip once every quarter. It can be just a day trip or a weekend getaway, but regular vacations are essential for my sanity. I always come back with lots of new ideas from being in a different setting, and having some time to turn my mind off.
Mr. Bee on the other hand doesn't need vacations as often as I do, but he is happy to oblige my traveling desires.
How often do you and your SO go on vacation? How often do you go on big trips as opposed to mini trips?
