When I'm feeling great, I'll do it every morning for positive reinforcement, when I know I'm not doing well, I stick with once a week!
OK, I hope I don't sound crazy but more than once a day! I was trying to see how much my weight fluctuated, and I also have some health issues...now that I have had my FINAL dress fitting, I'm making sure to closely maintain my weight...YAY for finally being able to eat sweets again!
I won't let myself buy a scale. When I did have one I got super obsessed with the number and would weigh myself several times a day, so now I get weighed once a year by my doctor. Is that crazy?
I do it about every other day when I'm at the gym. I used to do it every day when I was there but I started to worry about it more than being healthy!
I went three weeks without a scale and I went a little crazy! Like I said I'm happy I didnt gain, but I really think that the scale keeps me on track.
I also just created a little spreadsheet for myself to help get me to my goal.
13 pounds in 10 weeks. I think I can do it!
I try to keep it to once a week, but it ends up being once every day or two.
I used to keep it to once a week until recently my weight has been fluctuating like crazy. I'm talking four pounds from one morning to the next. So, it has been every day/every other trying to keep tabs on what it really is
I have never owned a scale or lived in a house with a scale because I am worried that if I did I would weight myself multiple times a day. The only time I weigh myself now is at the gym, because I am already doing something good for myself when I am there. But honeslty, I gained some weight this year, and every time I weight myself now it just gets me down because nothing I do makes that weight go away, so I just don't weigh myself much at all anymore......
I am considering purchasing a good, accurate at home scale to see if daily weighing (mornings before showers!) will help me figure out how to shed these few pounds. figure i can always trash it if i get neurotic....
there are times in my life when i've done it every day, but lately it's been like once a month. i just got on the scale yesterday and pleasantly found that i lost 2 pounds!
I, too, used to do it every day. Now, umm every few weeks or so. I don't want to know unless I am actively trying to lose weight.
I don't own a scale, so I only weigh myself at the gym when my PT asks me to. I've always thought that scales give women a warped self-perception, so I've mostly avoided them.
I don't own a scale so I only weigh myself once every few months. Now that I think about it, I should probably do it more often because my weight does fluctuate.
i used to weigh myself about once a week but i totally understand what katrinab said about being obsessed with the numbers.. now i just focus on how clothes look/feel and i can usual guesstimate my weight but more importantly its about feeling healthy
I don't weigh myself often-- maybe once every couple of weeks.. It goes up and down by a couple of pounds depending of whether I just ate or not. I try to gauge my weight by how my clothes feel.. :)
Once a week! And it's been proven those that weigh themselves once a week rather than once a month lose more weight. It's positive reinforcement or encouragement to work harder!
I own a scale but I don't use it. People tend to become too obsessed with the number on the scale rather than how they look and feel. I recently joined the local Curves gym and my trainer weighs and measures you once a month to see what your progress is. I would much rather see the inches come off than lbs. since scales aren't exactly a good measurement of your muscle/fat ratio.
LOL... I don't.
However at Jenny Craig they do weigh once a week and it's so nerve wracking for me.
Never!
About 1.5 yrs ago I changed up my diet and fitness regimen... I lost two clothing sizes in about a month but ended up at the SAME weight I was before I started. In addition, my weight would fluctuate a few pounds throughout the day. It was driving me crazy, so I just stopped doing it. I haven't weighed myself in over a year, but I do have a pair of "skinny jeans" that I use as an alternative to the scale... as long as they fit, I'm good.
Every Monday morning, which bummed me out because I didn't lose anything this past week, but this just means I need to step it up!
Once a week... I need to remind myself how far I've come and where I'm going!
my scale broke a few weeks ago (it registered me at 98 lbs. ha..NOT!)
Usually I only weighed in about every other week. But I think I'm going to avoid it for a while since my goal isn't to lose weight so much as it is to lose inches and look trim and lean. I'm going to focus on that, and buy a new scale in about a month or so. No expectations!
Haha - almost never. The doctor weighs me at least once a year, and in between my scale gets used to weight suitcases mostly. (We generally have to look for it when we want it.)
Seriously - it's not like I can't tell just by the way my jeans fit whether I've put on or lost a few pounds, and what I should be doing about it. And I put on a few pounds every winter, and lose them in the spring, which I think is true for most people. I suppose if I was really trying to either lose or gain a lot of weight I would use a scale to track my progress, but since that's not the case I can't see the value in even checking.
I step on once a day usually. If I have been bad, I'll skip a day or two. It's kind of cheating, I know.. but having the scale makes me feel more accountable when I'm stuffing my face.
i get on it whenever i'm feeling fat, it leaves me a good imprint of 'stay off that twinkie' in my mind for awhile. :P
So this may be against what all psychologists recommend, but I weigh myself each morning. I do this with my Wii fit, but you can do this in a notebook or on a computer. The wii fit graphs my weight for me, and it came as a total shocker to me to watch my weight trends. My weight graphs for each week show a peak on Tuesdays, with gradual weight loss until Fridays. My Tuesday weight is sometimes 2-4lbs heavier than what I will see on Fridays. Seeing that week after week made me really think about my food trends and has helped me to lose weight more effectively because I am more aware of my eating trends.
Once a week at Weight Watchers. If I weigh myself more than that, I make myself CRAZY with the usual fluctuations!
My parents bought us a scale (where was it before the wedding???), so now I'm able to check each morning and/or evening. Hubby and I make it a competition which seems to produce better results.
We don't own a scale! I probably weigh myself every three months or so - at the gym or doctor's office. oops! I am more focused on how I fit into my clothes rather than my number.
Every morning whether the previous day was a good day or not.
It keeps me on track & ensures that if I ate poorly I won't avoid the problem. If I'm up or feel gross I just eat a little less that day. Like today... I'm sticking with veggies & chicken because yesterday night I had a cream filled donut & a hot dog. If you previously had a weight problem/have one its always good to monitor it :)
Mine measures body fat %. It's about 7% too high, though, so I always have to subtract a little. I just watch the fluctuations. I weigh myself every other day or so. I weigh 160 no matter what (healthy for a 23 year old who's 5 foot 11), so I don't obsess over the number. I get taped and weighed and body fat measured professionally every month, which is the ultimate motivation. I'm more concerned about those inches getting bigger and the body fat % going up on the trainer's fancy do dad. Or when my pants get snug =]
Once a week....unless I have been out of control, then I will do it to scare myself back on track!

I think it's best to only do it once a week due to changes, but I usually can't resist!
I just got on a scale for the first time in three weeks and I'm happy to see I've maintained ... which is good since I'm in a new place on my own and have been leaning toward comfort food.
I also only will weigh myself first thing in the morning right before I get in the shower ... aka with nothing on but a smile :) I like to make sure it's totally accurate! ha!
