Hello hive! The holidays are approaching and I want to ask my flower girl and ring bearer to be in my wedding. But I'm not sure if they're going to be too old for those roles by the time of my wedding! They are twins and will have just turned 7 by my wedding next year. What do you think?

I definitely think it works! I was in several weddings as a flower girl when I was around that age. I know most people think of flower girls as really young, but it's definitely normal to have them around that age. My niece was in a wedding last year when she was 7! Go for it!

I think it's a fine age. I actually think it's great they are brother/sister because you know they will be okay walking each other down the aisle. I was at a wedding this fall where the rehearsal was the first the FG and RB had met. The little girl refused to walk down the aisle with the RB at the wedding, so her mom had to walk her.

Totally fine! Honestly, I think anything younger than teenage is just fine. Our flower girl was a flower baby-we had her and her mom walk down!

7 is fine. 9 is considered the cut-off age. At the same time, 2 and younger is considered too young by most.

You are well within the age limits.  I would say teh upper age limit is 8 or 9, just because they might be bored with the role.

Im not having either in my wedding, but an ideal flower girl for me would be 7, and a ring bearer would be 3, (i dont know why i picture them so much younger. lol)

My Flower girl will be 6 when I get married.  I think it's perfectly fine. ( I did post a poll about it, too, and the result said the same.)  9 or up would be pushing it.

7 is perfect!  Our ring bearer and one of our flower girls were both 7.  Honestly, I think the younger kids are wild cards...I attended a few weddings this past year where they didn't want to walk down the aisle, ran down the aisle, kicked the flower girl basket down the aisle, started crying, etc....  My husband (FI at the time) turned to me and said "thank god ours are older."

Just a note on the ring bearer...when we asked ours he didn't quite understand what it is (it's note quite the same as little girls dreaming about being a flower girl or weddings in general).

Thanks for taking the poll! It sounds like they fit the profile :) I agree with what many of you said about younger kids being unpredictable. I just hope this boy and girl won't be too shy to walk down the aisle!! The boy is more shy than his sister but maybe my fiance can wave him down. LOL.

I think 7 is honestly the PERFECT age; they're old enough to understand what they're supposed to do, and to hopefully do it without throwing a tantrum, but they're young enough that it's still cute. I"m getting worried about my potential flower girls--I have a niece and FI has two. They're going to be 3, 3, and 4 respectively at the wedding. The 4 year old is also reeealllly shy, so I don't think she would be willing to walk down, even if she could walk with her sister or my nephew (ring bearer). And the two three year olds are wild cards--who knows what shenanigans they might decide to pull? :) If we do decide to have them, at least it will be interesting and keep us on our toes!

My flower girl will be 8 for my wedding but she is turning 9 a month after the wedding and she REALLY enjoys the wedding festivities! She went to the cake tasting and we have gone to the mall for numerous wedding ideas together. My ring bearer is 6 but will be 7 two weeks after the wedding and he likes the part! He understands what he needs to do and he is a boy so he isnt as excited as the flower girl. I think at a little bit older ages they really understand their part better and will remember being in the wedding when they are older.
