I had my first at 21. Unplanned but I’m definitely glad I started early.

I don’t have children but I feel like this poll needs more options!

At 22 I was in college, essentially living off student loans, and wouldn’t have batted an eye at having an abortion if I got pregnant by some random guy (because that’s who it would’ve been at that point). At 26 I’m very happily married, earn enough to own a home and pay off those student loans early, and we’re actively trying to conceive. Just a thought!

I haven’t had a child yet, but we are planning to have the first one when I’m 23 or maybe 24, my husband will be 32 at that point. (I am 21, almost 22 now) 26 is the absolute longest I could possibly wait but it’s very unlikely that we will wait that long!

Haven’t had children yet, but we are planning on TTCing around 30-32 for me (32-34 for DH).

I am quite happy we are waiting until then to TTC. We have been together for 10 1/2 years thus far, but just recently got married. We are looking forward to spending our 20’s enjoying each other, continuing to build our relationship, our careers, our incomes and experiencing our lives.

We are not worried about “having enough energy” because we are high energy people anyway. My parents had my brother and I at 19 and 20, and my sister around 27. While my mother was fantastic, she has commented that “you can’t get your 20’s back.” She doesn’t regret having us, but wishes she had waited a few more years.

I had DS at 18. Unplanned. I don’t recommend it. We will most likely TTC #2 in late fall 2014. I will be 34 (almost 35). This is the perfect time in my life for a baby because we have great jobs that are secure and pay well, have no debt other than our mortgage (for a home where we have 35% equity), we have a very strong marriage built on love and respect, and we are very content with being home doing the family thing.

I was 25 when we got married, and he was 27. I’m 27 now, and today is my due date. She is a happy oops. We had planned to wait until we bought a house, but we met with a lender and have the new goal of buying in 15 months. Little one won’t know the difference. It was hard adjusting in the first trimester because it was such a surprise, but once I started showing, we got excited. I threw up for 30 weeks… That was unpleasant. We have stable jobs and have been together for 8 years, so we feel good about where we are. There’s still lots of stuff we want to do, but we’re happy to do it all with her.

I was 18 years old and got pregnant while taking BCpills. I elected to have the baby. I got pregnant AGAN a year and a half later, while on BC pills! Yep, I was super fertile. We did not have the difficuties trying to conceive the way young couples do now. But then again, we were not literally bathed with environmental toxins either.

@chelseakayd:  I was 31 and will be 34 when I have our second in April. I met DH when I was 29, so having babies in my early 20s wasn’t an option! I also wasn’t financially secure until mid 20s.

I voted in the future…. I am 31 now (DH is 35) and we just got married.  Planning to start trying around my 32nd birthday next summer.
