I’m 23, my husband is 28, we are nowhere near buying a house and I don’t care ONE.BIT. Renting is not wasting money!

We just bought our first house in May! I am 20 and FI is 21, we are both full time students. Just make monthly budgets and save as much as possible! Don’t buy more than you can easily pay for each month. Buying a home is such a great investment and we are soo happy we did it!

I was 30 he was 25.  Took a while to be able to comfortably fork over that 125k+ down payment.

We’ll probably get a house within the next 3-4 years. I’ll be 24 or 25. My partner will be 32 or 33. We could afford to buy now if we wanted, but I want to wait until we can comfortably afford our “forever” home.

Bought a house, hated it, went back to renting. The down payment is only the beginning of how much it costs to own a house. Plus, my rent is almost half of what my mortgage was because I was able to comfortably downsize so I could afford to save more money for things that are less of a burden. Not to mention I want to move to another state in the next year or two.

We are 23 & 24. We’re not waiting for financial reasons but rather because we want to find our “forever location.” We’re not sure what state we will be living in in the next 2-3 years but hopefully we find our spot and settle down soon!

We bought our house when we were both 29…we will be 31 at our wedding.  Guess we did things a little backwards 🙂

We’re aiming for anywhere between ages 24-27 (although I voted on the higher end),  H and I may end up moving and depending on housing prices where we end up changes how much we need to save for a down payment. We’re commited to not buying until we have atleast a 20% downpayment saved up, so it may take time if we move to a community with a cost of living higher than we we are currently located (at the moment, you can get a 3br, 2ba house that has modern upgrades and sometimes granite for $120-150k)

22 when we bought our house. Our monthly house payment is $450 a month whereas renting a 2 bedroom apartment would have run us about $975 a month. We would not have bought a house if we didn’t plan on being here for a while.

I bought my home when I was 23 turning 24. My home was a foreclosure but it was in good shape, and I got an excellent deal. I have two extra bedrooms and a FI now and we intend on staying here for awhile and raising a family here.

As far as advice goes, just look at a lot of houses, and don’t settle. There is no rush, so take your time when looking.

@Ninteenthchance:  Woah, same age range 🙂 I’m 23 and boyfriend is 30. We bought our first house together in March! Well, it was a short sale, so it took a long time. Put the offer on it in November and FINALLY closed/moved in in March. We purposely bought a house that was under what we were approved for, just to save money, also just incase anything was to happen with jobs, that one of us can make the entire rent, even if the other cant for whatever reason. We really lucked out, though, because our house was 100% remodeled (walls torn down and everything) the year before we bought it, so it was move in ready, basically brand new, and super cheap!

Editing to mention that my mortgage is LESS than it cost to rent every month! $823 set rate for my house, and $930 a month when I had my apartment.

First home (a 2/1 condo in Miami) the week after I turned 21.  Second home (a 3/2 with pool, jacuzzi and private lake) when I was 24.  I am currently 25.
