I just started researching bands a couple days ago, and although I have a wedding planner, I like to search too! So I've looked at different bands,

HOW did you know your band was "the one" ... what made your mind up?

What do you think sets an amazing band apart from the rest?

What kind of music are you looking for? Assuming all your bands play similar music, will they all play the songs you want? Will they abide by a "do not play" list if that's important to you?

Is there a singer? For most guests, a good singer will make or break a band, so choose a good singer.

How many people are in the band? If you're limited on space, that can make a difference.

How much experience with weddings does each have? If they're used to playing frat parties, unless you're having a wild wedding, they might get bored and not play as enthusiastically.

Can you get references and speak to other brides whose weddings they've done?

In the end, if you have several that you like, just choose one and go with it. If several seem good, I'm sure you'll have a good band! Good luck!

We chose our band from just listening to their recordings that were available to us.  It wasn't easy, but we were able to pick out the band that seemed less cheesy than the others with a great singer...and they were awesome!!!

    Good luck!!

When we chose our band, we made sure to see what type of music that they played and also asked for references. Our band was also extremely nice in that they invited us to come and see them play at a wedding that happened to be at our venue before booking. We were able to sneak into the side and observe the band and the crowd reaction. When we saw the 8 year old and the 94 year old out on the floor at the same time, we knew we had the right band.
