I want a pitbull when I get a house. getting a pitbull now is a bad idea because apartment complexes have strict rules about the breeds *eyeroll*

I think they’re so cute. Even Cesar Milan uses Daddy as a helper dog in his rehab missions. Come on!

These stories break my heart. 🙁 Any type of breed ban just punishes responsible pet owners. We recently adopted the sweetest 1yr old pitbull mix and I can’t imagine having her taken away from us. She is hands-down the most lovable dog I’ve ever had in my life and has been the easiest to train because she is just so damn eager to please us. I would seriously move if my city tried to enact a breed ban.

@misspeanut:  my husband and I both agreed that if the cops came and tried to take away Max we would end up in jail. we would lock all doors, they would have to break into our house and fight us to get him.

I was at a Christmas festival thingy this past weekend and someone had these two beautiful white pitbulls. One had blue eyes, the other had one brown eye and one blue and brown eye (yes, half and half eye color on one eye). Some of the sweetest and most beautiful pups I’ve encoutered.

Anyway, this woman came up behind my group as we stood near the dogs, talking to her son (she was holding him) saying “We have to ask the owners if the doggies are friendly, first. We always have to ask.” Then a few seconds went by and she said “They don’t look very friendly though. Maybe we’ll pass.” I turned around and said “Oh no, they’re incredibly sweet dogs. Don’t judge them just on their breed.” She looked stunned and said “Really?” When I nodded she walked over to the owner asking if the dogs were friendly and if her son could pet them. The two pups just sat there calmy with their tongues hanging out enjoying the attention.

It really irks me that people will just assume certain breeds aren’t friendly because of the reputation.

@figgnewton:  @Birdee106:  Glad I’m not the only one. I said something along those lines to some friends and they looked at me like I was crazy. No no, you try to take my dog and kill her, and you have to get through me first. Or you lose my tax revenue. Either way works.

@LiliKitty:  My mom is still pissed that we adopted a pit mix. She and my dad came over to meet Charlie and it took about 10 minutes to convince her to come in the damn house because she was convinced the dog would just lunge at her throat and try to rip it out for no reason. Meanwhile my dad was on the ground wrestling with the dog and getting smothered with kisses. Sigh.

FI was shocked at first when I said I’d love to adopt a pittie later, and at first he was so against it, not necessarily bc he thinks they are vicious but bc, “if they DO bite, they can do a whole lot of damage.” Yeah ok, so let’s get one of those dogs whose bite makes flowers grow then. He quickly saw the flaw in his logic, and I’m slowly winning him over.

That’s so disturbing!  I’ve never met a pit bull that I like personally (sorry, but there are alot of really awful people who own them where i live- like the people whose dog bit our dog and a few others in the neighborhood and had to be put down) , but I know there are so many good pit bulls out there and good owners.  It’s so sad that there are so many piece of crap pit bull owners out there that they are taking away even the dogs with good owners.  It’s not the dogs fault.  If you ask me they should be rounding up the bad owners…

Every dog has the potential to be dangerous.

Every dog has the potential to act uncharacteristically and, worst case scenario, kill somebody. Absolutely every single dog on this planet. Great danes? Absolutely. Chihuahuas? Absolutely.

One bite in the right place and you’re going to be in serious trouble.

If you’re going to discriminate against one breed of dog, you need to discriminate against all breeds of dog. Temperment aside, all dogs can kill somebody. They can kill babies, adults, other dogs, pets. You can’t say one is worse than the other when they all have teeth and claws.
