I have decided on a drop cathedral length veil where the drop comes down in front to either my elbows and fingertips.
After trying on a few veils at Saks where I purchased my dress today that were over $1,000 each, I decided on a simple ivory drop veil that has no embellishments and either no trim or the tiniest pencil trim at the edge. I just wanted to see what looked good with my dress… I can’t imagine shelling out over $1,000 (or over maybe $200 tops) for a piece of tulle. Anyway, I digress. Now that I know the type of veil I want, I plan to purchase it at Occansey Designs online per the wonderful recommendations that I have read from you ladies on this site.
I am planning to get temporary extensions in my shoulder length hair and either wear my hair in a loose bun at my nape or in a wavy loose side ponytail over my shoulder. Because of this, I would like to attach my veil at the top of the bun/ ponytail, which would be towards the bottom of the back of my head. Can this be done with a drop veil? My hair is extremely fine, so I’m concerned about it slipping out… hence why I want to attach it into the bun.
So far the only drop veils I have seen seem to be attached at the top of the head in an invisible way.
My next question… how do I attach it?! I read in some places that this can be done with hat pins. I have never even heard of a hat pin before, although I have seen pictures of these strange contraptions online. Does anyone have a link for the steps to attach it using this? Also, I see that Occansey offers to attach the veil to a comb. How does this work with drop veils? Can the comb be hidden?
