I am using weddingwire.com to plan my wedding and really that is what I have been using to know when to book and buy certain things. I am getting married Nov. 13 2010 and per that website it says in July (4 months before) I should book. I don't know if this is right on track, earlier or later then other brides book but thats just what one website says...
Maybe book 6 months prior, so January 2011? Hope this helps a tiny bite
If I recall correctly, I scheduled my hair appt 4 - 6 months in advance and I am glad I did because there were 3 other wedding parties there at the same time. If you know where you want to go, give them a call and see how far in advance do they allow you to make an appointment for a wedding.
@MrsScottie: I'd agree that at least 4 to 6 months out.
Love your wedding date, by the way!
I'm getting married on Sunday August 1, 2010...and I booked my appointments the beginning of last December! I know it was quite far in advance, but many salons are closed Sundays...and leaving it later wasn't a risk worth taking!
I would say 6 months in advance should be fine...but if you really want a specific salon, maybe speak to them about it, it doesn't hurt right?
Thanks everyone! I'm going to call today just to find out how quickly the salon I have in mind usually books up. If they'll take my reservation now, I'll go ahead and make it. Why not?
One more quick question: the ceremony is going to be at 5:30. Does it make sense for the first appointment to begin at about 11:00? 12:00? The venue is just down the street and we aren't planning to do too many pictures beforehand. What time should we hope to be leaving the salon? I don't want to get my hair done too early and have it droop in the July heat. Thoughts?

I'm getting married NEXT July in Washington, DC. I've heard that hair salons book up quickly on Saturday mornings/afternoons, especially because we're in an urban area, and that I should book early. There will be 6 of us altogether who need to get our hair done. Is it crazy to book now? If it's too soon, how long should I wait? Thanks for the advice!
