I am not getting married untill September 2012 but I got engaged last September! I wanted a September wedding so I opted for the longer engagement since a year didn't seem like enough planning time! A few months ago I finally started planning and I got all the big things done and I found my dress (Vera Wang).

So now my dress is going to be here MONTHS sooner than I expected!! (October)

When do I buy shoes and accessories? Would buying shoes now be too soon? Do I wait for the dress to come in or should I have them chosen by then?

Does it really matter? The worst that could happen is I don't like them anymore and buy something else right?

    Thank you bees!!

I bought dress/veil and shoes 10 months out. I figured it was better to have the dress in hand and alter it down, rather than risk rush fees. Plus, it gave me one less thing to think about.

For the shoes, I knew I wanted flats. That made things pretty simple. I'd make sure you have them by alterations time.

RE accessories - if you're going for items that won't last, I say go for it. Otherwise, just buy them when you want. On the bright side, you have a long time to think about it if you're not 100% sure!

I bought shoes the same day I bought my dress because I knew what size of heel I needed and I accidentally found the perfect pair on sale. I guess you can get them as soon as you know what you want and need, but if you're the type of person who tends to change her mind or want a new pair later, I'd wait.

If you know what kind of shoes you want keep your eyes open for them and if you find them go ahead and buy them. I don't think there's really too soon to buy shoes. As you said, later if you find something else you can buy another pair, they're just shoes.

Yay, another September 2012 bride! I say go ahead and purchase your shoes and accessories. It will be nice to have those items and get them out of the way, especially since you already have your dress ordered.

I have had a few pairs catch my eye, it doesn't hurt to order them!
