My fiance accidentally let it slip that my BMs and mom were looking to have my bridal shower in October. I’m getting married in March so that’ 5 1/2 months ahead of time. I feel like it’s way too early. About how many months in advance are bridal showers held? every one I’ve ever been to has only been 2-3 months in advance.

Normally I would say yes, but considering there is T-day and Xmas in between there is some leniency. But it does seem on the early side. I think January would be best.

I was thinking January too. I’m kind of upset they want to do it so early because October is the busiest month of the year for me at work and I really just don’t have the time. I’m the bride so I feel like they should have at least asked me what my work schedule looked like.

I would say that’s too early. I don’t understand the whole surprise bridal shower thing. Why does it have to be a surprise? Why don’t they ask you when you’re available and set a date, let you know and thats it. They don’t have to share the details with you… just a date would be nice.
My Mom and Fiancee both know that I don’t like surprises. Thank Goodness!

Yikes, I think that’s way too early. I’m pretty sure mine is going to be in January. They definitely should have asked you first.

I agree with those who have said it is too early…
one big reason is your registry you have to register at least a full month before your shower and that means you are registering more than 6 months before your wedding… by the time your wedding rolls around your registry will be useless becuase stores stock will have changed in the much time.

Mine was in April and we got married in June.
Sorry to add stress, but I also agree it’s too early.
Tell them you asked on Weddingbee and we told you it was too early. 😉 haha

I actually don’t think it’s too soon. Especially if people are traveling to your shower and wedding, sometimes it’s nice to space them out.
My bms waited too long and now there’s no time for a shower, so you could have the opposite problem.

I would just let your bm’s handle it. My shower was in May and I’m getting married in Sept., it did seem early but that was the best date for my family and bridal party. As long as you know and can register before your shower I don’t think it’s an issue at all.
Also I wouldn’t worry too much about items on your registry being discontinued, again I registered in March for my upcoming Sept. wedding and only 3 items are unavailable. If you register for mostly classic items you shouldn’t have an issue doing it early.
