The wedding will be June 2015. I’ve gone dress shopping with my Mom already, just to get an idea of what I like. I couldn’t help myself!
My goal is to buy my dress used and then sell it after the wedding. There is a woman close by our place who sells used dresses. If I go to see what dresses she has and like one, it’s very possible it will be gone in a few weeks.
So my question. If I fall in love with a dress now, should I buy it? or should I wait?

i would wait. 2015 is soo long away, anything could happen!! You have no idea what size you will be in 2015, let alone how much your style will change, or if a new and better dress will hit the market!

WAIT! Especially if you are planning on buying a dress from a consignment store because their stock is always changing and you have plenty of time. I understand the need for finding a dress because of how exciting the experience it will be. Start the other aspects of planning like venue and wedding theme to keep you busy for now.
Like the previous posters said a lot can change in 2 years.

I would never buy a dress more than a year before but that’s because I would definitely change my mind as more styles came out. Everyone is different though so some people are able to do it with no problems.

Totally depends on your personality. If you always envisioned yourself trying on a million dresses and choosing one, then I’d say keep looking and wait to purchase.
If you are very decisive about most things and typically make purchases without regretting them later, then you may be fine to get the one you love. I never wanted to try on a bunch of dresses, and had found my dream dress online to use as inspiration. When we bumped into it in a local dress shop on super sale, we pulled the trigger.
My point is: you know you. If you think there’s a chance you’ll regret it and want to try on more, wait. But if you aren’t really interesting in repeating the dress-trying-on process, go for it.

I would til at least a year (or less) out.

I think 2 years out is too soon. If you plan on reselling, it’s hard to do that if it’s a very old or discontinued dress. If you’re buying a dress that is already used and it is only July 2013, nobody will be actively searching for it in June 2015 or later to purchase. I’d wait a year! Can’t hurt to know what silhouette looks best, but actually buying a dress is a pretty bad idea (just search for “dress regret” on here and see how many people who bought early ended up as 2 dress brides!).

I would wait. I had a 2 year engagement and my dress tastes were all over the place. Eleven months of shopping and one dress regret later…
I know it’s hard to wait and I love to jump in and get things done too, but I think you should wait.

It’s way too soon. My style changed from one year to the next in what I thought I wanted to wear, so seriously give yourself about a year out. It will come before you know it!

I am getting married Oct. 2014 and I bought my dress a few weeks ago. Same thing happened with me. It was going out of stock… So glad I did it!!!

I purchased my dress a year and a half before the wedding. Super early according to my family/friends. We had gone to so many bridal salons and as soon as I tried it on I just knew it was the dress. I never ever had a single ounce of dress regret. I’d say it’s ok to shop around but do not purchase until you know deep down that you love it. They bridal cosultants all use the trick well it may get discontinued soon so you shouldn’t wait too long … in most cases untrue. They said the same about my dress and it’s still there! Guess it’s a sales tactic.

I’m getting married June 2014 and I bought my dress in February 2013. I did the EXACT same thing, I thought I would go and try on dresses to get an idea of what I wanted. I found a dress that I fell madly, deeply in love with and bought it.

I would wait about a year or a little earlier. My dress is taking about 9 months!

It’s never early to buy your wedding dress. For me, wedding will be next year, but i’m preparing right now. hahaha
