Fiance and I really don’t care to have a huge, extravagant cake. We want something that looks nice while being affordable. Our baker said the cake would be 3 tiers and each tier is about 4 inches.. so a 12 inch tall cake. This seems really small to me. I mean this cake has an entire table dedicated to it so I don’t want it to be TINY.. Do you think this is too short?
Just fyi: the sizes of the tiers are “5 inch top cake with a 7 inch cake under that and the bottom cake would be a 10 inch cake” (for the smallest, cheapest sized cake) and the next size up ($90 more!) is 5 inch, 8 inch and 12 inch and is already more servings than we’ll need :/

@mimsmims7: Yeah, I thought we were getting a fairly large cake (4 tiers) until I say the cardboard sample she had in the front room! It’s tiny! It’s still what we are going with, but I just had in my head that wedding cakes were bigger.
However she is one of the most popular wedding cake vendors in the area, and I got a very typical size, so I’m assuming it will look great 🙂

It sounds short to me, but I guess it’s pretty standard? We had three tiers, but I feel like they were taller than 4 inches. I could be wrong, I’m terrible at space-related things. Our cake, however tall it was, didn’t feel small at all!

Ours was tiny but it looked beautiful. You can always add more flowers or other decorations to the table to take up space.
