How tall is your ring?

I personally don’t care for high set rings, at least not for my lifestyle. Can they be beautiful? ABSOLUTELY. I adore rings with gorgeous, detailed side views, but they aren’t my style. My ring suits both my understated tastes and active lifestyle. It’s a low, cathedral setting with a pave band and small center (.51 ct).

As far as your ring, I don’t think there is any way to make a 1.62 look small. If you want to be extra sure that you’re halo doesn’t blend with your center stone, perhaps look into an airline setting, where the diamond is set higher than the halo. I’m sure your ring will look gorgeous either way though! Share pics when you have them!

I personally don’t care for the look of high profile settings.

They look really awkward to me and like they’re trying to hard or something. To me anyway. I am sure there are lots of people who’d disagree.

Lower profile is also more practical

I don’t know the measurements of the height of my ring, I will try to post a photo tomorrow as I’m on my phone now and it’s impossible to post pictures on here from my phone! However I have a 1.8 ct center stone with a halo and it does not take away from the actual largeness of the stone. When you’re looking at it from above it all looks like it’s on the same level anyway!

I agree with the other comments,  never been a big fan of high settings. Mine is a little higher than I typically would go for but I’ve gotten used to it. FI even had them lower it when they reset the stone! It sounds like your ring is definitely going to be an eye catcher so I wouldn’t worry.

I am not one for high set Diamonds (they were HUGE back in the 1980s when I got married the first time)

I have ALWAYS been a lover of lower set Diamonds…

I just find them far more practical / easier to live with / work with etc

My current ERing has a wide shank, set with many smaller diamonds…. the Feature Diamond sits just 3mm above the shank

Hope this helps,

I like high, delicate settings, but that’s personal preference.

I have a high setting and love it.

The bottom two photos are from when my center diamond was  set lower.  The top photo is after I had my diamond set higher so I could see more of it.

@katy13:  Girl that ring is gorgeous!!!! The stone will definitely not be overwhelmed by the Halo!

@katy13:  well it’s just not my style. If that’s what you want then I think it looks good. I prefer daintier styles over thicker shanks. I definitely don’t think your stone will look small though! It’s too big to look small 🙂
