Hi everyone! Not a new bee, but got a new account due to not wanting my username to revel my name and also my email changing.
I have a question regarding the size of your ring. Currently my ring is a size 6 and it is quite large on my finger. It spins around during daily activity and if i shake my hands really hard it slips off. When washing my hands it slips off with no effort so i am always very very careful. I am sending it in this week to get resized but I just cannot decide what size to make it. The jewler measured my finger and reccomended a 5 or 5.5 however, the 5 feels wayyy too tight and uncomfortable. I can not decide how tight an engagement ring should actually be. I HATE the feeling of a tight ring on my finger but I also dont want to lose it. Will I get used to it? My knuckle is about the same size as the rest of my finger, if that makes a difference.
Also, what about a size 5.75. Will that even make a difference at all?!
How tight does your ring fit? So tight that its uncomfortable but secure? I know this is a personal preference but before I send it in I just wanted to ask everyones opinion.

@offbeatbride314: I would get it sized to a 5.5. I think that will be perfect. If it is still loose as a 5.5, I would wait it out until you wear your wedding band. Once you wear your e-ring and wedding band together, your set becomes much tighter.

My e-ring is a 6.5. The jeweler wanted me to go with a 6 but I felt like it was way too tight at the time. I lost a little weight since getting it, and the e-ring is now pretty loose… not to the point where it would fall off, but I worry about it if I’m in the water. However, my fingers swell with heat/etc and during those times it feels snug… to the point where I’m not sure I want it tighter. My new wedding band is a 6, which is snugger but mostly okay. I’m planning to wear both together for awhile but will probably end up having the e-ring sized down to a 6. Even together, they don’t feel tight, so I think that will be ok.

I had to size my ring three or four times to find my true size, which is 3.75. So yes the .75 totally makes a difference. My knuckles are slightly larger than below them so no matter what my ring will spin(especially in winter!) but will never fall off. My advice would be to go down to 5.75, if that feels too big still go down to 5.5 but anything smaller i think you’ll feel your finger is suffocating haha.

My ring is about half a size too big. But I do the fishing wire trick around it which keeps it snug so that I don’t have to resize and worry about when I get prego it being too small.

@heathuhhhhwebbbb: fishing wire trick?!?! do explain!

My wedding band is an 8 and my engagement ring is a 7.75. My finger is probably closer to an 8, but I like to have my engagement ring tighter because it’s a family heirloom.

@Chicagochic: Yes i think i might end up doing that. I would assume its easier to make the ring smaller a second time than to have to go back and make it bigger.

Mine is at least a half size too big but it’s a hassle to have it resized at the moment, so I’m just dealing with it.

My e- ring is top heavy so it has a tendency to fall to the side sometimes but if I got the band any tighter, I think it would be too tight. I just got engaged in February and I was cautioned not to get it re-sized due to summer time swelling BUT this hasnt happened yet soI might look into it.

When I’m hot and my hands swell my ring gets tight enough to leave an indent, but I haven’t had too much trouble getting it off when I want to and it’s not uncomfortable. When I’m cold my ring slips around a bit, but it doesn’t feel like it’s going to fall off unless my hands are cold enough to go numb.

I’ve recently lost some weight so my ring is a bit too big right now. Probably only a quarter of a size. I’m wearing a cheap plastic sizer thing on it, which makes it tighter. But I will probably have to get it sized at some point – if it’s loose in the summer (when my fingers usually swell) then it’s going to be way too loose in the winter. Last winter it was already too loose, so now with the weight loss I think it will probably be falling-off-loose.

@offbeatbride314: I couldn’t answer. My ring fits perfectly. Sometimes it spins slightly to the left or right, but it usually doesn’t. It doesn’t move until I move it, but it’s not tight at all. It just kind of feels like it’s not there.

Currently, mine is snug, but I can easily take it off. My fingers change massively in size with temperature changes, so I had to try and find a happy medium. Given that cold weather is much more common than warm weather in the UK, and given that I work in an environment with AC, I figured I’d rather have it slightly snug in warm weather, and not too lose in cold weather.
My previous ring was 4 sizes bigger, and was WAY too big when it was cold; it span right round and was in danger of falling off; on several occasions I had to move it to my middle finger.

Mine fits pretty perfectly. It’s usually snug enough that it doesn’t spin but it’s very easy to take off. Only if I am super cold will it spin a bit or if I am very hot will it be snug enough to leave a little indentation.
