Just got my dress from the seamstress! Yay!
I don’t have pictures because I never think to take them when I’m there, and I am actually unable to put the dress on by myself so I can’t just throw it on now and take some pics. At the alterationist’s, I have to hold the dress while the seamstress zips it up. It’s too tight to be a one-person job, especially when you’re the one wearing it.
Which leads me to ask, are other peoples’ zipper-closure gowns that tight?

@bug-in-a-rug: i have no idea as i havent bought a dress yet… but i just had to comment that i loveeeeeeeee your name! hehe. and how appropriate for this post 🙂

Haha, that’s true! Yep, so snug in my dress that my new dress paranoia is busting the zipper while attempting to move my torso in any manner.

Yes it is that tight and I don’t like it!! I can put it on myself, but I am afraid to sit down in it for fear that it would tear!!

It’s snug just above the hips, but just right / little loose at the top of the zipper. Apparently I have hips. Haha.

Nope, I asked my seamstress to leave mine looser than that.
It’s still fitted, but I can move, sit, walk, and will be able to hitch it up to pee all alone. 🙂
I don’t have too much of a figure to accentuate, and it looked *almost* as good if I’m comfortable as it did when she sucked me into it – so for me, the comfort factor is worth it!

Yep, mine’s pretty tight – it’s got an internal corset that closes first, and then you zip it up. I haven’t actually sat down in it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be fine.
In the past I’ve worn serious steel-boned corsets (the type that take 4 inches off your waist in one go) and if I can sit/eat/pee in that, I’ll find a way to do it in my wedding dress.
I’m not worried about the zip giving out – it all seems very well constructed, and there are buttons, too.

Mine’s really tight. When it came in it was two sizes too big, so I guess they over compensated when doing alterations, lol. It’s too tight in the bust to zip, and they’re letting it out now. The waist and hips are tight in a good way, since it’s strapless and I want it to stay up. Now I’m just hoping the bust works out, since I won’t get to try it on again until the Thursday before the wedding…

Mine was also very snug when I tried it on last. I actually didn’t try sitting down to see how it would feel…is that bad? My final fitting is August 21 though. I will be having a light wedding dinner:)

NO! Mine was not that tight at all, but it was snug enough where I didn’t feel like it was slipping down or like I had to keep adjusting it all night. Have you tried sitting down in your dress? From what you described, it sounds REALLY tight. Def try sitting at your next fitting. (That rhymed!)

@Farfromachildbride: (and to everyone else)
I’m done all my fittings. I kind of liked it tight because then I wouldn’t have to worry about it slipping down, but then (of course) second thoughts snuck in afterwards. Actually, last night I wandered around my bedroom wearing the dress for a little while, (I found out I actually am able to put it on myself… I think the seamstress was being overly cautious when she told me to get someone to help me) and I didn’t notice the tightness as much once I got used to it. It’s not super-comfortable, but I am able to sit and stuff.
Adnama – I will also be having a light dinner!

Taking a cue from you, I am snug like a bug in the rug. It fits like a glove!
