I couldn’t find a post that answered this yet, so please feel free to direct me if there is one.
My cake is a buttercream w/almond amaretto filling. It contains real pieces of almonds. I am trying to figure out how/where to alert people if they have a nut allergy.
There will be a entree choice card in the invite, I could possibly put a note at the bottom.
Or a small sign next to the cake. But for that I’m worried if they never see the sign and the cake is passed out, that could be a problem.
Has anyone encountered this? Suggestions?

I would maybe put a line at the bottom of the RSVP card like:
I am allergic to tree nuts : yes / no

I don’t know how many guests you have but, are you aware of anyoen with a nut allergy? I honestly would not worry about it as people who are alergiy to nuts are often cautions so maybe a small sign by the cake and let people know. I had a friend in college with a nut allergy and he never had a problem asking someone to taste a cookie or whatever to tell him if it contained nuts.

are you having menus on the table? because if so you can put a little note on the menu that cake contains almonds

I would definitely say put it on the menu card, or you can have your DJ make an announcement when they are serving the cake. Not everyone will see it if you put a sign by the cake.

I would have an announcement made

Menu card or a small sign on the cake table or at each table somehow. People with nut allergies KNOW to look for it.
My DH’s uncle has a fatal allergy to seasame seeds (random, I know), and our salad had seasame seeds in the dressing. Since we knew he was the only one, we just made a small amount for him that contained no seeds and let him know ahead of time that provisions were made.

i would just put it on the menu…
dessert: buttercream wedding cake with almond amaretto filling

@slicey19: people with nut allergies like myself tend to be cautious, but it’s not fair to assume that they’re going to be on the lookout when they just want a piece of cake. I would be very happy with a notation on a menu card instead of guessing if there’s nuts in it. Nothing spells the end of a fun night like realizing that you bit into a piece of cake and have your throat close up on you at a friend’s wedding.
